Forums - Gaming - Metal Gear Solid 4 vs Super Mario Galaxy. Which is the Greatest??

Has anyone who has said MGS4 played Thief 2? Or Splinter Cell? Or any other stealth action game?

well, this is kinda a SMG vs MGS4 thread, but I personally prefer Splinter Cell over MGS myself since SC is not nearly as far fetched and it's core is an actual stealth game rather than boom boom rocket launcher into big machines that walk on 2 legs and as long as I lay flat on the ground I can snipe people in broad day light..... sigh....

yeah, not to mention the epic boss fights in Splinter Cell, oh and that glorious last fight where you fight Sam's brother with your bare hands and they fight untill they both collapse, what can i say, poetry in motion is that game Splinter Cell.

And of course, let's not forget the heart breaking moment when everybody's life depends on Sam's will to prevail, as he crawls through a corridor full of microwaves, barelly surviving. That must be one of the most emotionally charged moments in the entire Splinter Cell saga. Ubisoft are genius, simple as that.

The thing is, I play video games for the gaming part, not sitting through 10 hours of cut scenes picking out flaws in the plots and thinking how a lot of the cut scenes make no sense and how straight up "corny"(yeah, I used it) they were. I can easily rent a bad movie, or go read a book, yes, books, zomg books! If you really want to talk about politics, tactics, or conspiracy, Tom Clancy is much better than a video game maker that is Kojima since it gives you a broader view of everything instead of this little kiddie crap that tries to grab your emotions which I'm not an audience of, so of course I like SC better o_O; I can come right out and say that SC game play has always been better than MGS, it always has been for me since I've always played the PC versions at least. MGS4 isn't even a stealth action game dude, are you kidding me?

Super Mario Galaxy isn't even close but as a Metal Gear fan I found MGS4 disappointing. LittleBigPlanet is easily my favorite game this generation.

Galaxy was like if your abortion didn't get aborted but grew up to rape you and get you man pregnant and you couldn't  about the man pregnancy. That is what Galaxy is to me. :

Is it just me or does this post make no sense at all?

It was more dissapointing than Brawl. Much more.

this music video says it all and sums it up

Brilliant! It gave me chills, just sums up my feelings about the game. It just really is so wonderful it´s out of this world. I cannot imagine anyone not liking this game. I know some does ha ha, but I still can´t get it. Super Mario Galaxy, one for the ages!

I agree with this wholeheartedly. And as a somewhat fanboyish aside, I recommend Thief 2 just as much as I agree with you. Its really phenomenal.

Anyways, I can't believe people think MGS4 has a story that can be classified as deep or meaningful. It strikes me as just a notch above bad fan fiction... The complete lack of restraint and wish fulfillment is ridiculous. The fan service throughout is obscene, and the serious tone, despite the cheeky dialog, is incredulous. I doubt that anyone who hails its story as amazing has read any challenging literature, or seen any difficult films.
