Forums - General - Is my music telling me to "kill" people?

some songs do have subliminal messages.

Yes, sometimes artists do goof around in the studio and put weird shit on their albums to fuck with their listeners. Do enough drugs and you do start hearing voices in your head like a lot of musicians probably experience, especially those who are into the psychotropic stuff.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

It's not the music that tells you to kill people. It's the secret codes in the music that trigger the government chip, or voices in your head to kill people.

It's all bullshit anyways, my dog tells me to kill people. :/ Not songs.

Also, that Led Zeppelin thing is complete BS, it does sound like 'here's to my sweet satan' I grant you. But my mate asked him if it was true when he met him in a pub in Stourbridge, Plant said it was complete BS and there was nothing there, just what people have made out of it.

Yes. Judas Priest's "Breaking the Law" is famous for this. If you play it backwards, it says to go an mow your lawn. There was a rise in the amount of stoned teenagers mowing their lawns when this song was popular. Truely frigtening stuff.

Also, the Led Zeppelin thing is total crap. I played the entire thing backwards and found nothing. There is a part on I believe Pink Floyd's Empty Spaces (on The Wall) that says you have just discovered the secret message (not a joke).

The Led Zep thing is just hearing what you think you're going to hear.

My favourite piece of backmasking is the song Mother People by the Mothers of invention which has "Better look around before you say you don't care/Shut your fucking mouth 'bout the length of my hair/how would you survive/if you were alive/shitty little person?" backmasked onto it to avoid it being censored.

if your sure about your philosophy, god can come down, tell you to kill someone and you wont do it, so subliminal messages or songs abou killing shouldn't affect you

?

i'm just saying you shouldn't care if your music has subliminal messages or straight forward "go kill your mom" messages as long as you are aware its just a song and you shouldn't take it seriously.

I'm not taking any of this seriously in the slightest, I just thought it was interesting, and weird.

For all of you guys saying the Led Zeppelin thing is BS, it clearly is not.

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

Music can effect you in a lot of ways.

I was talking to the VP of our local ADAMH (Alcohol, Drugs and Mental Health) about suicide rates and music. I was wondering if they were correlated, and according to her, there are strong connections to your disposition and the music you listen to.

Very important to watch the kind of music you listen to.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
