Forums - Gaming Discussion - The 2007 Top 5 Big Guns for Gamestop/EB

For 2007, Gamestop and EB will be focusing on 5 titles that will put the most green in their pockets. Want to know the games? Well, here they are: 1. God of War II (PS2) 2. Madden NFL 2008 (Multi) 3. NCAA Football 2008 (Multi) 4. Halo 3 (Xbox 360) 5. Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360, PS3)

Really, I think MGS4 should be on that list. God of War II is an excellent game. Can't wait to see the third one on PS3, too bad it'll be 2009 before it comes out.

The list is understandable as these games are the most likely to be highly successful ... On another note, who would have thought that Nintendogs was going to be in the top 5 games in Nort America in both 2005 and 2006, or that The New Super Mario Bros. was going to be in the top 5 in 2006?

I noticed on this website they count all of the Nintendogs games as one. I was wondering why NPD never has it listed but this site does.

It is probably not on the list because (compared to the rest of the games on the list) it is very likely that Metal Gear Solid 4 will be delayed into 2008 ... I'm not saying I have any insider information or anything, but quite often one (or more) anticipated titles that are to be released ~12 months after a console's release are delayed ...

We don't know too much of upcoming software at the moment, 99% of developers were kinda caught off guard with our current selling scenario. :)

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

Theres no way MGS4 should be on that list. The list is for major selling games. MGS isn't a majorly selling game. Great game, but not as much on the selling list. GOW should easily be a 2m+ seller. Not sure why its #1 other than the fact that it's soon. Madden 08 will sell somewhere near 8m copies easily, NCAA 08 should sell somewhere near 5m copies. Halo3 should sell atleast 6m, and then GTAIV should wind up with 10m.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

EA has announced that they're currently working on a large number of Wii products (15 IIRC) ... I would suspect that a large portion of these games will be taking existing (PS2, Gamecube, XBox) games and porting them to the Wii with a focus on taking advantage of the controller ... At the same time I imagine that THQ (2K sports) will also take a very similar approach ... I anticipate that we will have all 2008 sports games on the Wii

Obviously no PS3 or Wii exclusive game would be on this list, they don't have nearly the install base yet to compete with top PS2 and multiplat games.
