Dragon Quest never was big in West, and has been restricted to traditional jRPG fans, while FF conquered a significant space in mainstream and is knowed to be a big system seller worldwide. Monster Hunter has reached the sames status of DQ and FF in Japan(watch out pokemon, you can be the next), in west it will follow the FF sucess or the DQ fail?

OBS: I know DQ isn't fail in west, but compared to what FF is here and what DQ is in Japan, yeah, it isn't good.
