Seriously... I bought the cheapest wireless router I could find... and it works brilliantly (cheapest Belkin model)

It's no hassle to set it up to the Wii (unless you want to lock your router... but I keep mine open and it doesn't seem to make a difference, so either no of my neighbors are stealing my bandwidth or it just doesn't do much if they do)

It can be a hassle setting the router up initially (not to Wii but for your modem and computer) but it does give you instructions, and I would think most people on this site are more technically minded than me.

Wireless FTW!

Wireless is pretty cheap'n'easy these days. Even I can set it up. Did one once and people keep asking me to do theirs and then give me money. Nice.

Grab the Nintendo Lan adapter from either nintendo.com or a retailer that sells the official version. I have had mine since shortly after launch (January of 2007) and it works great. Way better response times then using wifi. All around a better option then the wifi. If anyone else in here is using wifi but has a lan nearby their Wii I highly suggest switching to the official lan adapter.

What exactly do you mean by response time?

If it's the time it takes to download a game, then does it really make that much difference?

i think for fast response time he's referring to low ping.

Wireless is ok, but personally I prefer USB lan adapter. Better response time, and the wireless lan overlaps with blue tooth, so if you have a bunch of wii remotes (or wii classic connected to wii remotes) doing on line they interfere a little with each other.

Yes, the Wii uses Wi-Fi instead of ethernet. Sucks but you can always buy the LAN adapter. The only console that came pretty prepared this generation was the PS3, surprisingly!

My downloads take about 2/3's as long using the lan adapter.  I also have never gotten lag using the lan adapter but have had lag using the wifi and when over at other peoples houses with wifi I've seen their Wii's lag as well.

There are official Nintendo Lan Adapters for the Wii. Or just get a wireless router.
