Forums - Sales - Will Killzone 2 break 3 million sales worldwide lifetime?

I haven't looked into it but wouldn't a game launched during the holiday season be more front loaded and have worse legs?

KZ2 will sell more then COD4 when is all said and done so yes it will cross 3 mil

Call of Duty 4 has sold over 4.2 million games and counting on PS3. Killzone 2 can match that hey? I will take that bet.

I think 3 million is a reasonable target. It got off to a nice start in my opinion. I hope we see a slow but steady decline, and with that it'll hit the 2million mark this year. Christmas sales will do it some good also.

I expect 4.5-5 million LTD, and how quickly Xbox fans forgot about Gears 1-2 bundles? The recent surge in GeOW 1 sales was thanks to unlimited bundles in holiday.

But you wont let me quote you on the fact that you don't think it will hit 2.5 mill...something you said in this thread.

CGI is correct!!!

I mean, it's simple, the game WILL hit 2.5mill this year. I think the majority know this though

And to the original topic, 3mill sales WW at the lowest is a inevitable, but I still think higher due to possible further bundling and legs from DLC.

So you expect 30k a week? plus a bit boost at christmas? Okey dokey. I'll remember that when its time for you to "eat crow"

I don't know about the Holiday Season boost, but 30k a week isn't even a large number when you consider the legs PS3 games have in others.

lol 30k isn't a large number? why is MGS4 the PS3's biggest game selling 5k a week WW? LBP and R2 both under 18k a week.

5 games managed above 30k this week WW all newly released games .....

That could be argued. What remains however is the bnature of the titles. Due to mgs4's failed multiplayer component, it's sales are mostly used games now. Just walk into your closest gamespot and count how many used copies of mgs4 they have relative to say cod4. these don't factor into totals.

For kz2 on the other hand, it is mostly multiplayer like cod4 was so that gives it an advantage over even mgs4. To add to that, it's a first party game so sony could bundle to hell without having to pay anyone but themselves.

Agreed once again. Man, what's with you, is as if YOU are in my head? Creepy

like minds think alike LMAO

An intelligent one you are pristine. In fact, before I started posting on VG, when I was still a lurker, your posts were the ones I related to mostly. They were fair and reasonable, I applaud that

Thanks for the props man.

Hmm... haven't people argued here that games that are bundled shouldn't be counted among games that have sold?  Just curious.

If they did, the argument sure didn't stick. It's pretty difficult to extract "true" sales from bundles and there are usually multiple bundles out there. This usually means that if someone chose the killzone 2 bundle, they probably wanted the game as well and it was just a way to score a ps3 for less.

There is a notion that goes around suggesting that mgs4's bundles weren't included in it's totals on this site. I'm not sure if thats true but if it is, perhaps the same fate might befall kz2 and you'll still have an accurate picture

I need to bookmark this thread too.

Looking at the sales now I'm pretty confident we were right kowenicki.

Sales should stabilize to sub 25k in a few weeks.

3 million lifetime is still within reach though!!

@seece

not without a bundle it isnt.... in my opinion...

its dropped off very sharply

Yeah it did.

I predict the following "legs"

America - 3k - 8k (currently sitting at 11k after 10 weeks)

Japan - 1k - 3k

Others - 5k - 15k

So like R2 it can get below 10k a week I think ..

Have no idea but it will probably be the most sold FPS on the PS3.

it wont ever come near cod4, cod5, and especially cod6
