Forums - Microsoft - Can Blue Dragon sell 1 million copies?

Disappointing start.

Also, where is the advertising? MS usually advertises the crap out of any and every game of note on the 360 and this game, a 1st party game, gets zero advertising? ridiculous.

It seems that they don't expect much from it in the US. On the same not Sony has done zero Lair advertising, but they aren't as good as MS at that anyway.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

nah it's not gonna get to a million.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Sakaguchi might be referring to shipped numbers not sold.
1 Million WW is impossible. U.S cannot do better than 250K and E.U another 250K.
750-800K W.W is the max.

Heeeeyyyy!!!! <Snap>

...So your saying Blue Dragon, in the US will have worse legs than any game in the 100k range?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Id say 375k in America with a Two Worlds/ Madden like drop next week.

Lots of TV ads would help. If Blue Dragon had half as many TV ads as Gears had, it would likely sell a million.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

No way they sold 300000 in Japan where their install base for 360 is 400000.
210000 is already suprisingly good considering that.

Either way I doubt this will even make half-million point seeing the weak start in US charts.

100000+ on a console known for shooters in the market least known for receptivity towards JRPG's and up against massive games on all three consoles (Warkhawk, Bioshock, Metroid)??? Yeah, right, weak start. Look at the figures, this game actually MOVED consoles.  The only Bioshock related bump was last week, this week was all BD.

I meant weak start in a way to reach the 1 million point since thats the topic of this thread.  still 0.7 million to go...

I don't think BD will make the half-million point.  disappointing.

crappy old school NES games are more entertaining than next-gen games.

ihira, Ya it will. It has 200,000 in Japan, 100,000 and counting in America, and we haven't heard any news of Europe. It will definitely make over 500,000

I think the bump in 360 sales is due to the fact that Halo 3 is less than a month away.

I think it will do well over time and have legs. With the recent announcement that Lost Odyssey is arriving this holiday season, games like Eternal Sonata and BD might sputter for a bit but should sell decently into next year on the heels of Lost Odyssey (you can bet MS is going to advertise the crap out of that game).

BD should also get another shot in the arm in Japan when LO releases there... I'm sure that 360 sales will spike again and many of those people will pick up both BD and LO at the same time.
