Actually, the game doesn't get much better with time. Emil is still annoying as hell until the end of the game. The pokemon monster catching thing is retarded. The plot is also rather ridiculous and has little to do with that of the original game. I think it a worse spinoff than FFX-2 was.

LOL, did you really just say that? DotNW fits perfectly with the original ToS story and it fills in the holes between ToS and ToP.

The game does get much better with time. Emil gets a lot less annoying, plus Ratatosk Emil balances out any annoyingness he may have.

Emil is a more realistic main character than a lot of others.

The tutorial I thought was good...oh, and a cool scene comes up soon.

Emil wasn't realistic. His situation was entirely exaggerated and no one is that spineless.

Exactly, no one would follow someone so spineless. Your leader character should have something draws the rest of the cast to follow him/her throughout their journey. Whether it be their physcial ability, mental acquity, or just plain Charisma a lead needs something. Emil has nothing. Pity only goes so far. No one would take that much abuse without standing up for themselves at some point.

Characters like Emil are why we use the term "main character" and no longer use the term "hero" when talking about the RPG protagonist.

Personally, I'd rather play a game starring a "hero" than a "main character."

Then you should really play Tales of Vesperia. I think your going to like Yuri Lowell.

I dunno. Yuri is moreso a lazy anti-hero than anything else.

What? You know thats not true. He is an awesome main character. Yeah he may be alittle laid back but he is not whiny, he is not dumb, he motivates the party, and he has a whole lot of back bone.

I agree wholeheartedly. He's an awesome main character, but he is lazy. (he motivates but is still kinda pushed by Karol and Estelle) He is an anti-hero, and by that I mean he does things that a hero does not.

His alittle pushed around by Estelle during the first few hours of the 2nd Chapter but i don't believe he was pushed around by Karol. And yes he does ALOT of things that a hero would not do but at the same time he does what alot of heros should do.

had popped in tales of symphonia yesterday (the first, not dawn) and wow I couldn't get my self to play it. I was so used to Star Ocean 4, and Dawn of the New Worlds combat style.

You know how you can run around an enemy or you know freely and not just towards targeted enemy and just jump over them or attack head on. Or was it me just not remembering controls at all. Cause damnit I want to be able to run however I want in the battle and blindside or what not the enemy. I loved tales of symphonias controls when first played, but wow once you move to something better its hard to go back.

LOL! Same for me as well! I got so used to the battle style, character art and whatnot. I looked at the enemy designs on ToS and I'm like "the hell?".

I like this game. But, in the beginning I was very annoyed by Emil. That "High School Musical" face and the fact that he is incredibly whiney made me regret. How could I think I would ever regret buying Symphonia's sequel?

Now, I like the game a lot. I highly recommend.

Awesome trailer for the new Ganbare Goemon game, to be released in March, 2009 for... Well, it's a Pachinko machine with a display. Oh, God.

*NEW SUPER MARIO BROS WII*:  Now it's gonna happen!!! Thank you so much Nintendo.
