Religion is a faith based system of belief for worshipping a "Creator of Divine Origins" So obviously it isnt a religion.

So its most likely a 100,000 people "disrespecting" *cough cough* a common faith.

IS there some reason you feel religion should be automatically immune to questions such as highwaystar101s?

Because i feel that it is a perfectly valid question when Atheists/Humanists are repatedly being asked to justify their positions all over the world.

It actually made me smile that you pointed this out lol

I'm glad :D

Too many people feel some sort of guilt when challenged about why they "dare question it".

I've never had that problem thankfully as i feel an inquisitive mind and a willingness to learn are the 2 greatest gifts someone can recieve from their genes.

Wanna know the most intolerant thing I've done? It's quite funny IMHO.

I was walking through the local town centre and there were 2 "christians" ( I use the term loosely here due to a passage in the bible specifically referring to people who act as they were not going to Heaven, unfortunately i have forgotten which book, chapter and verse.) with one of them holding up a 7ft tall cross and the other shouting at everyone that they were going to Hell, without even speaking to people to find out what they believed before yelling at them, this was upsetting children, intimidating old ladies and generally making life difficult for almost everyone in the area.

Then, as I was wearing my usual skater get up of Bolt jeans (a baggy pair of black jeans effectively), a Cradle Of Filth T-Shirt and some chains hanging from the waist of my jeans, they decided to start screaming at me. telling me how I would:

"Burn in Hell, You shall repent but God will not listen, it will be too late because you will have lived in Sin and you shall deserve your punishment"

At which point i yelled back as loud as i could:

"In that case HAIL SATAN"

They then went extremely red, became flustered, packed up and left. Now i ask, was that MY intolerance? Saving innocent people from being abused, upset and intimidated? Was I in the wrong?

Or were they?

epic, you sir are a legend, lol, you also remind me of my friend, for 2 reasons, 1 he likes cradle of filth, 2 i can imagine him doing that as well!

To be honest, you're 20, you live in Bath.

It's entirely possible that I am your friend! After all, I'm 23 and live literally just up the road a little way outside of *spit cough* Swindon!

Wraith priest you are legend in every way, I would love to say that to the random guy in Birmingham city center that keeps telling me I'm a sinner and will burn in hell...

Also, no-one answered this so I shall post again...

OK, for all you believers in god who are intent on asking atheists to back up why they don't believe in god let me ask you a question...

Prove to me, using sound evidence, that your god exists and is the correct one to follow!!!

Now... prove it to me, otherwise the atheists win the thread.

Nah, not me then. I have my PC and my Wii. I plan on getting a 360 long enough to complete Resi5 though.

Ah well, nice to meet you :P

It's not "perfect," it's random particles with their own properties which react in a certain way all the time.  Also in quatum physics you learn that there really is such a thing as complte randomness, so no, it's not perfect.

From a mathematical perspective, with an understanding of how imperfect all are algroithms are that demonstrate randomness are something that is completely random seems amazingly perfect to me ... I'm certain that as our understanding of quantum mechanics grows will behave for completely rational reasons and not out of pure happenstance, don't you? Why does everything in our universe always behave in such rational ways?

Kind of like how 1 and 1 will always be 2? Well, in higher mathematics even that is not always the case. Also things behave in quite irrational ways. As to the randomness I mentioned, there has yet to be even the slightest evidence or theory as to why it's happening. In no one has disputed it. Not to mention entropy in the whole galaxy is increasing.

Now... prove it to me, otherwise the atheists win the thread.

That arguement seems a bit specious.

To a lot of religious faiths the presense of god is in of itself a sense.

As such it would be like trying to explain vision to a blind person... even scientifically it'd be hard to get.

Some people have infact suggested that such a percetion, whether there is a god or not is tied to the temporal lobes.

Whether it is a sense of a higher consiousness, a sense of something else we currently can't understand or simply a hallucinary feeling is unknown.
