Its not an attack, its simply people who have been forcefully given the wrong faith.
First off, how can you forcefully give anyone any faith?

Beyond that, I'm not saying anyone in this particular thread is attacking anyone's religion ... I have on several occasions asked people why they were Atheists and dug deeper (past the "Because I don't believe in god" comments that are essentially a restating of their religion) and have yet to meet someone who doesn't have the argument devolve into a rant on how evil other religions are (typically with a heavy focus on the Catholic Church).

Well, is it possible you're just asking the people who advertise their atheism and are therefore more likely to have a chip on their shoulder about it?  Not making any accusations, it just seems like that's the type most likely to get into it with someone.
Hate to hit and run, but I'm off to work so take your time and don't mind a lack of response.

Well, truth be told I tend to only dig deeper on an atheists beliefs when they have already demonstrated that they are a hypocritical ass-hat ...

that just means youve met some atheists who arent nice, its not fair to assume we are all like that.

Well then, explain why you believe that no god exists?

the problem is, is that they dont let you "quit" religion, i read a newspaper article about how when people ask to be removed from the register/file the church pot them on when they were baptised, they refused to let them
They do in the USA. Glad you found something about socialism you don't like.

What exactly does that have to do with socialism?

P.S.  Are you SURE?  I can think of a few churches that don't like to let go of members.

Religion in England is socialized... or at least it could be argued that way.

The church of England is afterall part of the government.  It's bishops chosen by the Prime Minister.

Socialism = Economics

Are you saying churches aren't part of the economy?

Religions are part of the service industry.

i see no reason to belive he does, how does it benefit me or aid my understanding of the world to do so?

Ass-hats they may be, but hypocritical they are not. You don't see them answering or thinking anyone is closer to the "truth" or what they believe it the way religious people do with their priests or popes or whoever the hell they listen to.

Your kidding right?

All kinds depending on the denomination.  For example Confession if you're a catholic.

The primary one though being religious instruction.

What makes a church different then say... a guy who plays music on the street with hat for donations... other then scope?

Or a drama group that runs on donations.

Priests get paid don't they?  Heck some of these Evangelical churches make a KILLING.  Why?  They provide the "brand" of Christianity in demand in that area.

The church of England makes over 1 billion pounds a year.

Thats an odd way to position your belief structure, a rhetorical question that could only possibly answered if you reversed your beliefs ...

Now, most scientists, mathematicians and logicians will tell you that as their understanding of their own little peice of the universe grows that everything tends to work exactly as it should work. If we're living in a universe which is entirely random, unpredictable and uncontrolled why is it so perfect?

It's not "perfect," it's random particles with their own properties which react in a certain way all the time.  Also in quatum physics you learn that there really is such a thing as complte randomness, so no, it's not perfect.

its actually one of many reasons, but none i can give will ever satisfy you, so whats the point in answering a question you will never accept can be answered by anyone.
