Odds favor more quiting console race than price cut. Well, thats if they are still sane. If they aren't, it might be anything. :D

Well that gets the DB statement of the evening and that's not a reference to databases.

I m curious ,,what does it refer to (DB) :P

I'll get a hint, it's often referred to as a bag, but it comes in a box. ;)

I would like to buy a vowel. :D

Anyway if they are still bleeding money badly, it might be better even to retreat no matter what fans say. I know they weren't bleeding in last quarter, but PS3 was bleeding still.

@Spartan

First 10 PS2 games I would buy off PSN granted they were all avaiable;

1. Ico
2. God of War 1
3. God of War 2
4. Final Fantasy X
5. Shadow of the Colossus
6. Metal Gear Solid 2
7. Metal Gear Solid 3
8. Jak and Daxter
9. Jak 2
10. Jak 3

Sorry it took so long. I made my last post at work, and then I headed for home. This is a very small protion of the games I would re-buy. I own all of the others minus Ico. I would also get all the titles in the following fanchises;

-Ratchet
-Getaway
-Final Fantasy (minus XI)
-Sly Cooper
-Syphon Filter
-Twisted Metal

I am sure there are more, but that is all I can think of off the top of my head.

@axumblade

I like your referance to Sony and focus on profit. That is why PS2 B/C makes so much sense. It gives a little more incentive to PS2 owners with a library, and it opens up a huge window for profit. If they were to push up all the old PS2 greatest hits for 9.99 to 14.99 they would make a killing

I had the idea a PS3 price cut was not very urgent (relatively speaking) and Sony could hold on until E3, but looking at the software releases for the next 3 months it's all about multiplatform games for the most part (with Infamous and several PS Network games being on the exclusive side) so it's probably best to cut the price now and take advantage of recent hits like Killzone 2, Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter 4. It would definitely do well to keep the momentum going in Japan specially. They must maximize the impact of a price-cut, waiting too long could be missing out the big rewards from the current hitters (this spring won't be even half as strong as last year software-wise).

I thought it was the other way around. Sony were bleeding last quarter and the PS3 wasn't so much...I'm probably wrong about that but I don't see Sony retreating when a lot of their big investments are coming up over the next year. I don't really think there will be a price cut on the PS3 per say, but there are certain things for the PS3 that would make it seem worth the money. The most common complaint that I get from people about PS3's is their lack of backwards compatibility now. If they can get rid of that issue, then the system will sell better (note I said better. not up to 360/Wii sales. Sony have said already that the console war is not their focus, their focus is to turn a profit this year). More systems sell, the more games sell. The games seem to be where Sony gets their profit from on the PS3.

Well, gaming department(whatever it is called) was profitable, but thats PS3+PS2+PSP. And it was just barely profitable. Unless Sony gets near zero money from PSP and PS2 or the PS3 was still bleeding badly. Question is how deep they can go? If they are going to get nothing, but losses from the PS3 and if its dragging them way too deep retreat is an option. However both are very unlikely to happen price cut or retreat. Price cut would mean more losses and I don't think they can handle more losses.

and why do you assume that they did not  spend money last quarter for any R&D for PS3 slim,some 3rd party exclusives for future,some funding of 1st party studios for more games?

why do you assume they have 4 million left after selling PS2.PSP,PS3 +games and haven't invested on anything else?

maybe they earned 100 million and spen 90 million on funding 3 new games to come out in 2010.

We don't know anything.So it's better to leave it to them to decide what they want to do.

I was thinking about that the other day. Sony must have spent a lot of money trying to get all of these different games production up and rolling. There's a ton of games coming out for the PSP and the PS3 and some haven't even been announced.

exactly and people say 4 million was resulted from sellling PS3,PS2,PSP,and many games ,,,so it means PS3 is still bleeding like helll.well that's bull crap .

we don't know what they did .

they might earned 200 million and spent 196 million on many many stuff .From PSP games to PS3 games to PSP 4000 R&D to PS3 slim R&D .

They actually fell short of expectations for the PSP and PS2 if I recall correctly. PS3 sold about on par to what they were thinking it would...That's if I remember correctly.

Well, I was talking about profit wise.

SpartanFX:

True, but making something costly while you are in trouble as a company doesn't sound right. And thats the insane part I was talking about. One should think that stakeholders demand profit above else. :P
