Forums - Nintendo - If Manhunt 2 sells well on the Wii

The main problem of Wii is technical specification. Most of new games just can't be ported directly (new Tiger is a good example... also lack of VF, Tekken or real Soul Calibur to point only fighting games)... Good sale will definitely secure GTA game but don't expect anything on the GTAIV level... People keep asking for games like RE5 but get real... only multiplatform games you have on Wii are sports games or crappy movie spin-offs... CoD4 developers would love to sell this game to 10 million crawd of Wii owners but sorry...
PS3 can at least count on UBI (very solid ports of very solid games - R6 Vegas and GRAW2)

I agree with you mostly. Re5 or GtaIV really can't be made Wii friendly without degrading the game a large amount. Farcry Vengance is what happens when you force the wrong game onto the Wii. That is a game the oozes its hatred of all games that are fun and playable. Still, I would perhaps like to see a GTA designed for the Wii. think of the GTA Stories line for the Psp. Umbrella Chronicles is one possible Wii RE take, and if it does well there might be other different attempts. I am fine with getting a 360 or ps3 for games like the ones you mentioned, but I wouldn't mind spin-off series or alternate games.

Farcrywas not too advanced for the Wii, as the Wii is at least as powerful as the Xbox, and a port of Farcry looked good on that system. Vengence looked bad because the developers had almost no real experience on the GC, particularly its shading system, so they couldn't even do it on the Wii.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

yes but the wii will have 2 have the largest install base and even then i think it might be a port like 'San Andreas Stories' >_>

"If Manhunt 2 sells well on the Wii"

Then we will have millions of professional killers? I mean with all the people playing this murder simulation game...

OT, I think we will see a GTA game on Wii regardless.

The question is this: Are we supposed to live our lives fearing that we might set off that 1 of every 100k?

The answer is obviously - No, we do what we have always done and we deal with the extremely rare cases when they crop up.

yeah, that's true, 1 out of 100k is worth the risk... but--

risking for what? there's nothing positive that comes out of a game like that. things like space shuttles disintegrating which apparently has a 1 in 140 chance, and we take it, because of the huge rewards. but here...

i'll be one of those who simply would rather there be more caps on violent contents, barring further studies.

the only arguments are along the lines of free speech, inspiring more creative gaming, etc. maybe for some people it'll be more like you get "grossed out" playing it and just turn away from violence as a result, but that's gotta be fewer than those who got infleunced the other way.

that being said, as a consumer, i'm interested in trying out just to see how supposedly violent it is. maybe it's not even so bad.

the Wii is an epidemic.

There are hints that suggest such thing:

Rockstar Table Tennis game is comming to the Wii. That game is based on the same engine as GTA4. For me that release looks like they wanted to know what they can do on the Wii, and get to the hardware in Detail.  doubt that GTA will hit the Wii in some way.

Hmm, even if it's RAGE appearance on Wii... c'mon you do realize the difference between 2(4) player tennis game and huge city with hundreds characters, cars etc... You've seen the trailer. Wii won't handle it. No way.

I disagree, the PS2 did an excellent job, handleing a huge city, with hundreds of characters and cars ect... with San Andreas. I think it is very possible for Wii to get a port of GTA 4 or Resident Evil 5, however, the graphics are going to suffer considerably and it will take a lot longer to port it than the developers might want.

As long as the Wii continues to sell as well as it has, eventually the devs will make an attempt at porting them, just don't expect the ports to look even half as good, or the AI to be as smart.

Yeah that's why RE4 and MP3:C didn't sell at all... oh, wait!

Personally, I hope not. As far as business, I hope so.

They probably arleady have a GTA Wii game underworks. I really don't think Manhunt 2 sales will have anything to do with it. The popular brandname of GTA, fast rising sales of Wii, ect it only makes perfect sense.
