I must politely disagree with FFXI being in your Forgettable tier. Though I suppose with MMOs mileage will vary.

Anyway, to me X is quite a ways behind the other FF as the best. I couldn't stand how maps were  so linear, usually just a straight line from point A to point B. I couldn't find any of the characters likable either, Tidus even took Squall's spot on my list of worst FF protaginists of all time. Finally I couldn't stand the extra mini games they threw in there, which wouldn't be nearly so bad except some of the best weapons in the game are gotten this way. Dodging birds on a chocobo is not fun. Dodging lightning bolts for hours on end is not fun. Blitzball is not fun. You know what's fun? Snowboarding, hitting people with a giant sword while on a motorcycle, and bitchslapping someone on top of a giant cannon.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good game. It had a good combat system that let you adjust your party to fit the current battle, and the ending gets a thumbs up from me. I just don't consider it to be the best.

maybe the worst, in terms of plot and characters. the visual presentation was very good, and the battle/sphere system was also good, but i could never get past how predictable and terrible the story and characters were.

I enjoyed Final Fantasy 10 quite a bit but it wasn't the best in the series. I enjoyed parts 4,6,7,9 all better than 10. My order would probably go 6,9,4,7, and finally 10.

i agree that it falls in the middle overall, but it can't really compete with the SNES/PS1 era FFs in terms of story and character development.

I seriously enjoyed Blitzball. The motorcycle part in FF7, I really didn't like.

IMO FFX is the best. I love FFVII, but X just has a way more appealing story to me, and the infamous sphere grid is also one of my favorite level systems of any RPG.

VII and X are tied for me. I'd like to say 8, also, but I still have never beaten it. FF IV is still cool with me, as well.

And after playing all the way through the remake of III, that's now my least favorite.

Well I can understand that there'll be a difference in opinion, but would you say you enjoyed dodging thunder bolts and the chocobo game?
