Forums - Gaming - PS2 or 360 offline?

Xbox 360. Despite the back-catalog of games available on the PS2, all you will hear about for the next three years of so is the hype of new Xbox 360 games.

The Xbox 360 has an incredible library (granted not as good as the PS2's). But it has a FAR better outlook for the next few years than the PS2 for obvious reasons.

If graphics TRULY dont matter, that raises the PS2's standing. But there are some truly amazing experiences on the Xbox 360 the PS2 cannot compete with.

It depends what you want. You already have a Wii and a pretty sweet game collection, so I'm not sure what to recommend to you. The PS2 has a much wider, cheaper and better game library, but it is not getting many new games anymore. The 360 has better shooters, but the PS2 wins in terms of RPG's

What sort of games would you be wanting to play?

I prefer adventure and RPGS over shooters... Buyt I prefer the shooters on the PC or the Wii

That's like a fight between Mike Tyson and Britney Spears. The PS2 has the best library of games in history and its only flaws were paltry online offerings and relatively poor graphics.

PS2=MT 360=BS? Which console are you recommending? PS2 or 360?

(I would really like to play with Britney's buttons..)

Definitely PS2 then.  Endless amounts of games you can play.  It's cheap and almost all games for it are cheap or can be found very cheap.  It gives you a chance to wait on the HD consoles (PS3/360) to lower even further in price and see where else they differentiate into the future.    By the time you get your fill of the PS2,  you might be looking at around a 300$ PS3 / 150$ 360 or lower.

If online gaming doesn't matter and you don't have an HD TV there is no reason to jump into PS3/360 yet.   Additionally,  PS2 is king with RPGs and Adventure games IMHO.

360 may be my favorite system this gen, but it ain't no PS2.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

Well according to your sig it seems you already decided which to get first.

Not really... I am reconsidering that idea.

Get whichever one has games you want to play.

I would just get a PS2, enjoy it's dirt cheap games, and then get an XBox360 when it pricedrops or when you get an HDTV. Then enjoy it's dirt cheap games.

EDIT:  Looking at your game collection, I see that you don't list any Gamecube games.  If you don't have any, there's a lot of great Gamecube games to look into as well.  And it'll be cheaper than getting a whole new console.

no wait, u want RPGs and don't care about graphics???? PS2 is ur best option then.
