Forums - PC Discussion - $350 PC that runs Fallout 3 better than PS3 & 360.

cords Um, they'd come with the case?

Umm no they dont. They only come with the necessities. Power cable, internal cables. No HD cable, HD audio.

Oh, HD cables. Well the PS3 doesn't come with one either.

No installation You build it yourself.

Yes and there is a cost for that, my time and energy are important to me

shipping Neither does a PS3 ordered over the internet.

You can get the hardware from a store too.

Why, when I can just go to the store?

tax Neither does the price of a PS3. true, but for a very small minority can save tax by crossing state line.

S-video capable video card It will support connection to an HDTV, via HDMI or DP.It has TV-out for SD TV.

No it does not have Tv-out, because I checked, liar.

Wait, so you're bashing me for not having HD cables and then saying you need an SD connector? Can't have it both ways. In any case, it's a whole $5 more for one with TV-out.

it is however: noisier Nope.

No noisier than a PS3 or X360.

not quieter than ps3, that video card is notorious for its fan

Did you read the noise measurements in the TR article I linked to? <40dB noise. You're thinking of the HD4850 or 4870. Also, a fanless HD4850 is availible.

ugly

And the X360/PS3 isn't?

Not like that ugly case, keyboard, and mouse

5 times the size micro-ATX FTW.

None of those parts are micro atx FTL, what the hell is your deal. WHy are you lying to me

No, I'm trying to say that, if aesthetics are so important (which weren't in the original challenge) you could pay a little extra for a better-looking and smaller case.

underpowered (420w PSU tsk tsk) As I said above, with those specs you could get away with a 300W PSU. Yeah, OP said he wanted to OC, good luck with that. A 300 watt power supply would crackle when you put the video card in there.

No, he said you COULD OC. It meets the requirements of matching the PS3 at stock. And even then, he used a 410W PSU which could do 100W of OC power above stock.

On top of that, there are no fans in the case, and I can't tell if there is a heat sink for the processor since hte link leads t a forum. I'm guessing that it does not.

OMG that's another $10.

Even if you added HD cables, upgraded to one with TV-OUT, added in CPU fans, got a nicer case, got a better power supply and paid shipping, it would probably still beat a $399 PS3 in price and performance.

well ...like, $199 xbox 360 that runs dead rising better than wii,in ..

                                                   $199 vs $250

''Halo reach''.. sell 7.m first week ,Believe¡¡¡¡¡¡

Well it's cheaper than a PS3 and runs better altough it has no wi-fi, no BD and virtually no storage space for a PC.

Fuck it. The best bang for the buck is a X360. Or a PS3 if you want to run BD since the cheapest BD player avaliable on a PC is 190 bucks.

@soleron
The ps3 doesn't need hd cables. It has tv cables. IT HAS a way to connect to a tv, whereas the video card does not by itself.

If you bought them at a store you wouldn't get the kind of deals that are almost exclusive to online marketplaces like tigerdirect and newegg

Oh, it's a whole 5$ more? then link me the card why don't you?

A better looking smaller case will be quite expensive, comparitively, that's my whole point.
You can also buy a shitbox car with rusted through doors and a muffler that sounds like a shotgun. But it'll run!

Yeah it's another 10 dollars.
It's another 5$ (or so you claim) for the tv-out
and then another 5 for that cable
and then 30$ (at the very very least) for shipping, and look. You're now past the cost of the ps3 and 360

good luck putting those specs under 300watt. Even a modest video card needs too much

apples to oranges comparison. the reality is some people cannot be bothered with PC gaming. It isn't that hard but that's not the point.

As for the computer itself...

If you read the reviews for that case, people say the case is flimsy and poorly built, which isn't suprising since it's $30 with a no name power supply. If you're going to build a computer, you might as well get a case that isn't poorly built. Buying windows xp off ebay? yeah i don't think i'd trust that. Did you factor in shipping for the ebay win xp? Decent build considering the price but for an extra $50 or so you could get a decent keyboard, mouse, and a little better case/psu.

Also, why is it okay for you to tell people to download movies in the OP? If you told people to download games your thread would get locked, but stealing movies I guess is okay?

Can i Play Valkryia Chronicles on it? How about some Uncharted? ... thats what i thought.

Exclusives do matter you know, although you've made your point for Multiplatforms, i find it funny how you mention the PS3 only w/o the 360 being mention'd.

Well, a PS3/360 won't be able to play Starcraft II so I think I'd prefer a PC ;)

Or Diablo 3 for that matter.

Had to change my sig to get some moderator to quit bitching about it......

Wow your not even close. Cheapest blu-ray player for a PC is $80, good call though.

What do you mean the PS3 comes with "TV cables"? Do you mean standard def cables? If so, wow, you've defeated the purpose of owning an HD Console. Getting a HD cable to run from your PC to your tv cost under $10, it's not a big deal.

@amaretsu

None of it matter because this is supposed to be a dis to the playstation and 360.

Hence, why it was posted by frybread.
