Forums - Microsoft - 10 reasons why i dislike 360!(And yours!!!)

Garnett - It takes a lot of courage to post something like this, even if you are a known 360 supporter. I had been considering a similar topic about the PS3, but I think I will hold off on it.

I am not a big fan of the Dpad or the dvd drive noise. Although the drive noise can be minimized with installs.

Also, I think the pricing is a little steep for some downloaded titles (same complaint for PSN games).

It's still a great system.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

1. Pay to play online - it's kind of galling, especially as PSN inches ever closer to parity with Live

2. Shitty hardware (naturally)

3. Few real exclusives, and where the blue fuck is the 2009 line-up already?

4. Overpriced accessories (and not-so-accessories, like hard drives)

5. MS Points - I understand there is a minimum transaction and all, but why does Sony manage to charge me in actual dollars?

6. A "d-pad" which is as useless as Aaron Greenberg

7-10. Aaron Greenberg himself

I can't think of 10 but some things I don't like include-

1. RROD

2. DRE, disc related problems

3. Paying for XBL Gold. It's a rip-off, I don't care what anyone says.

4. MS's lack of 1st party games/developers. Partly why the 2009 lineup is looking quite sparse at the moment.

5. It's too noisy.

6. Having to use batteries. And there's no message that pops up on screen to warn you when the battery is about to run out. Having to buy the play and charge kit seperately sucks.

7. No built in wifi, the adapter is quite expensive.

^Still a great machine though, it just has flaws like any other console.

3.  Fair enough, I and many others would rather pay for a good service we use

5.  Install to HDD and in my case its quieter than my PS3

6.  Although there is no message on screen, when the batteries are getting low the guide button LED's start to cyle warning you.  I've never ran out of battery power while playing.

Rest of your points were justified quite rightly.  I only highlighted 5 & 6 to add balance that it isn't always the case.  Point 3 was just differentiating my view to yours on the subject.

About 5, that's true. I installed Fable 2 and it's much quieter. It's just that I only have a 20GB hard drive and with the space already taken up, I can only install 1 game at a time. As for 6, I had forgotten about that so thanks. I still think a message appearing on screen would be better, something MS could add in an update.

My X360 makes a lot of noice, it feels like rufly half of the time the fan spins on maximum speed. Are newer X360 models more silent?

A friend of mine got one couple of months ago and it's definately quieter than my experience with other 360s.  I presumed given his was a recent purchase they'd gotten a bit quieter - or maybe he just had it positioned better or something.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

My gripes:

1. Having to pay $50 extra so my kid can play online (which I didn't).  The online should be tied to the console and the Gamertag.  And $10 to change your name?  To steep.

2. Overpriced DLC. Some things (like GTA Lost & Damned) are priced just right. Other things (like Street Fighter 4 costumes) are horribly overpriced. Microsoft needs to step in. No way a 120kb download should costs $5.

3. Microsoft points. 1600 MS points equals $20. What!? I ain't no calamazoologist!! I just want my expensive ass Chun-Li outfit.

4. No refunds. My sister has Dance Dance Revolution Universe, but no online. I offered to buy her some new tracks. I clicked on DDRU2 to read the description of some of the songs. I hit "A" instead of "B" to back out, and there went 800 Microsoft Points ($10 if you use Scientology to convert). I just sat there, stunned for about 2 minutes.

5. I can't play games I've downloaded if I take my Harddrive to a friend's 360. I know WHY Microsoft does it. I just hate that they do it. It's a lot easier to take my Hard Drive than it is to unhook the entire console because I wanted to play Ninja Turtles with my cousin.

6. The 360's D-Pad. How bad is this thing? I can't even type my name in some games without the damned indicator going randomly in the wrong direction. "I want to go right, but you want to go UP! It's like its own little mini-game. How fun." The D-Pad has been around since caveman days (as seen in various wall paintings). Microsoft STILL hasn't fixed this?!?

7. No new uses for the XBL Vision Camera. It was great for Uno, but now EVERYBODY uses Avatars. How the hell am I supposed to see titties with my 360 now? My porn collection? Oh, yeah. Nevermind.

8. No web browser. My laptop, PC, Wii, PS3, Cell Phone, and microwave all go online. My 360 can't. How the hell am I supposed to see titties......oh, yeah. Nevermind.

9. Wired 3rd Party Peripherals. Logitech or even Madcatz can make an improved controller, but because they have to be wired, there's always that downside. My 360 sits on the top shelf of my entertainment center. Cords = sucking. Don't suck, Microsoft. Rock!!

10. It doesn't tell me that it loves me. Not even once. Sometimes, I just want to hear it.

The 360 is still my favorite console this gen. I could easily come up with 10 things I hate about the PS3 and Wii, but this is not the time or place. Keep on rocking!!

i have no complaints on the 360 maybe just the tray loading drive

                                                                      Play Me

1. No way to bypass region lock

2. Ugly and loud

3. don't like controller

4. Now that I've played the games I wanted to get for it, nothing new is on the horizon

I haven't bought any peripherials for it, neither connected it online. If I had I suppose I'd hate the price for those.

1.Xbox live-(WtF my friend has to PAY for XBL when he is over a few times a month and we are on the same fking console, really MS?)

If you had a PS3 you wouldn't pay a dime for online gaming.

2.Batteries -Really? Honestly Batteries?

PS3 controller recharges from any USB port. (I use the one on my TV)

3.Rumbling DVD drive.

PS3 is nice and quiet.

4.Everything cost MS points,just about everything at least,can i get a

(Good)free track for GH WT? No dam..

Can't help you here.

5.No reward for buying GOLD,Cmon MS give us 500 MS points for every 3 months we buy of XBL,plz?

PSN FTW again.

6.Wired stix suck! The cord somehow got bent and well if you move it anyway it comes unpluged, not really unpluged but disconnected cause the wires are messed up.

PS3 has built in wireless no extra charge.

7.Hype? MS didnt play L4D at all,an exclusive to the Xbox 360 console but they dont say crap about it,show it off its an AAA game,or any other big games besides Halo and Gears, why MS why?

L4D was on PC as well

8.Where is my Slim 360?

9.Where is my Blue Ray addon?

Every PS3 plays Bluray Standard.

10.Can i have downloadable Xbox 360 enhanced games, you know games that have improved graphics over the DVD version due to more space?

Nope

My honest opinions what are yours?

As much as you love your 360 it looks like you'd love a PS3 even more.
