Having restrictions on gun ownership is ridiculous. It actually does the very thing it aims to protect: the more gun restriction laws there are, the higher crime rates will be. Regardless of laws or not, criminals WILL obtain guns. This is a certainty. So what happens when it becomes difficult for law-abiding citizens to get a gun? You get people unable to defend themselves against criminals who have illegally obtained guns.

It's not government that needs to take over, it's the people who need to take over government.

I am not suggesting we are there yet, but as out founders predicted, that day will come. When it does, weapons will be needed.

That's exactly what I'm asking. Withuot the army, why would we need to even put an effort in taking over the government? They won't be able to resist without the army itself, which as you pointed out, is made of people.

 

 

Because the government itself grows to powerful. Not that they will do anything by force.

For example, and I am not saying they will do this, but what if Congress passed a law that said any business that turns a profit over 5 million dollars will be taken over by the government. It goes to the President, and he signs it. Then the supreme court upholds it.

If that happened, it would be time to overthrow the government.

Hmmm, the country that allows guns has more gun related homicides, funny that isn't it considering it is for your protection.

Let me ask you something. How many times have you actually been in a situation where you have had to kill a guy because he was pointing a gun at you in your own home? How many times have you seen a "Terrorist" running at you strapped to a bomb and the only way to stop them was to shoot?

Homicide in the US is 5.6, in Europe it's 5.4

So while more people are killed with guns, less are killed with other weapons.

I was hoping someone would point this out. The guns kill people argument is stupid. Yes, you cut back on gun deaths. Yay for you. Now how are you dealing with the other violent crimes?

I too am glad someone pointed that out. It is the perfect example of conservatives spinning the evidence for their own motives.

Europe and EU include: Latvia, lithuania, estonia, albania, estonia, moldova...and so on
If you want to say we should be no better than a conglomerate of those countries and others, like France and germany, poland, and switzerland, then maybe we should start identifying who these dangerous "states" are within our own country.

Then we can start increasing gun control in those area...... OH WAIT
