So are we finally done believing Madworld will have legs? lol. that was a dumb belief from jump.

Should it have been a PS360 game? It would have sold tons better.

Yea because niche stylized games sell so well on PS360.

Well, obviously they don't sell that well on the Wii *cough* NMH *cough* so one would think that Sega would try their luck on the PS360 instead...

Which is not even a response to what I said.  I knew you'd respond in one of 2 ways.  Either you'd agree with what I said becuase it was perfectly right.  Or you'd avoid it by saying Wii doesn't sell them either.  How predictable people have become.

The thing you probably overlooked, which many do, is that stylized niche games don't sell well in GENERAL.  I mean the best selling stylized game I can think of is Wind Waker and imagine how much that would have sold had it not been Zelda.  Other great games such as Okami, Vietiful Joe, Eternal Sonata, and yes Valkyria Chronicles all did not sell well.  Some might say other reasons but it is no coincidence they are all stylized.  Only stylized game this gen I know has done well is Crackdown and its GTA styled gameplay before GTA IV gave it an edge.  The niche part of Madworld is the ungodly violence in the game.  How many super violent games actually sell well.  You really can't name many.  Your average Halo or Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto isn't violent whatsoever.  But games like Madworld, Manhunt 1 and 2, Condemned, etc all are extremely gory and violent and their sales represent it.

They just don't have a huge market for stylized uber violent games.  They aren't mainstream and probably for awhile, never will be.  So would it have done better on PS360?  I'm sure it may have had a better opening but would never have come close to a million nor had any legs whatsoever considering a lot of their userbase is mainstream just like the Wii.  Not to mention no brand, no established IP, and having to compete with the recent release of RE5, SF and on 360 the long standing Ninja Gaiden 2.  At least with Wii you released with virtually no immediate competition, a platform that has shown resilience to stereotypical buying patterns, and a system that has had large genre variety along with a game similar to this that has done fairly well from a development standpoint.

This doesn't mean Wii was the right development choice or would have yielded the best results.  But it was the path of least resistance and out of all 3 yieled the least risk before production.

Yeah, God of War isn't a violent game at all.  Ripping people apart, tearing out eyes, etc. is all casual kiddie stuff.  x_x

And that game has sold tons.

And yet because of that it still can't sell on Call of Duty and Halo levels.  It gets there because of it's accessible gameplay and built up brand but suffers from its violence.  However if it was on the violence level of say Manhunt or Madworld, it would be even less.  Once again case and point.

Yeah, brand name from the original God of War really helped it to sell good.  I mean, it was a new IP, but still had a brand name.  >_>

And of course it won't sell 10 million units like CoD4 or 5 which are out on like five platforms.

The fact of the matter is that the original Manhunt sold well enough to warrant a sequel, and a violent game like God of War sells... But these games don't sell on the Wii... Unfortunately.

I never said the first.  If you are going to invent things I say, you might as well talk to an imaginary person rather than one that has the capacity to see the bullshit.

No but one version of COD4 was almost enough to outsell the entire God of War franchise.  I can only imagine how much greater it is when we actually do combine all the versions.

Sure the original Manhunt did well enough to warrant a sequel.  Apparently so did the first Condemned and so did No More Heroes.  But of course No More Heroes to you did badly.  OWNED

Oh god, 'owned' what are we 12?

And yes, No More Heroes sold well enough to get a sequel, but I never said that Manhunt has sold well.  I said it sold well  enough to get a sequel, to prove a point that there can be ultra-violent games on other platforms.

Don't fail.

For good laughs and shame check the neogaf thread about Madworld's sales:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=356964

Anyway I don't care about console wars and that crap, but Platinium/Clover deserves a lot of recognition, after Viewtiful Joe, Okami, God Hand these guys have proved that they're really talented and have a distinticte touch on every game, What do they need to get the attention deserved? A generic FPS with high budget?

I'm sorry but games like Gears of War and God of War are just as violent as MadWorld and Manhunt. The tone of the games different. (MH/MadWorld are a bit more sadistic)

But you still chainsaw people and you still, with bare hands, remove limbs from the body.

I think killing someone with a knife is far more violent than killing someone with a gun from afar.  Shooter games are generally not really violent at all.  In fact they are no more violent than the 2 player game in New Super Mario Bros where you can kill opponent with fire flower.

I was more talking about curb stopping (crushing the skulls of downed enemies) and the chainsaw bayonet (where you chainsaw and enemy in half).
