You know, usually I'd agree with you...but I don't.

For such a long time, Wii fans have been really pretentious. Note first that I'm OBVIOUSLY not talking about all Wii fans, but instead a select group of them. And these people were incredibly annoying. It's not like we all haven't heard the rhetoric of how the Wii is saving the industry, how developers are being destroyed by HD costs, and how the Wii's sales numbers make HD fans cry. I've seen a lot of condescending bullcrap from Wii fans, lots of bragging and jeering.

So you know what? I think it's time for revenge, and if this overhyped game is the opportunity to do it, then so be it.

LULZ THE BITTER TEARZ!!!

How you ever got to be a mod... I have no idea.

Do you always take cheap shots whenever you disagree with someone? I've said far worse things than this post and I still got to be a mod, so maybe it's not that you have no idea how I became a mod. Rather, you have no idea how to become one and just choose to be angry at everyone.

No cheap shots, sir. I don't even disagree with you. I just don't think it's a particularly good idea for a mod to take a part in these childish fanboy wars.

You get annoyed at people, and for revenge, you do the same annoying thing back. Honestly, normal members would get banned for trolling like you do (to be clear, most of your posts aren't trolling), but you can do it, because you do it in the name of revenge, and you're a mod.

Take an example by Stof or Twesterm, they do a great job of keeping out of these childish feuds. You, however, dive straight in, and you seem to enjoy it, too.

Well, I can't say I agree with you, Montana, but I guess I respect your opinion.

I mostly encounter it the other way around -- That Wii gets constantly ridicules and this is just yet another shot at it. But I guess we visit different places/threads.

As for the mod-stuff, well, I can see why he's a mod. Even though he's a bit ... Let's say, expressive, at times.

Every console gets ridiculed, but you have to understand where a bit of the backlash comes from. I actually think a lot of the predictions for the game's sales were modest, and it seems to be selling fine to me. And I also think a lot of people are overreacting over only a couple weeks of sales. It's just that some of the posters on this site have been really pretentious and it created that illusion among quite a few Wii fans. Things like "Wii Bingo," "Bitter Tears," and Malstrom all made a lot of people angry (including me). This shouldn't surprise you that much.

As for my being expressive, I learned from a wise sage. Rocketpig has taught me how to rage well.

Ermmm....I think you missed the part where I'm not a mod. In some of my rage, I may sound serious, but I'm usually not. I'd love to color code my posts for seriousness (red text for ultra serious, light blue for casual), but it would just look fruity. I just like to have a rant every once in a while. And while I respect Stof and Twesterm a lot, they're not perfect either and I'm sure you could find reasons to criticize them too.

So one game contradicts the whole list and pattern as a whole?

The list and pattern as a whole weren't great in the first place, so it doesn't matter much.

This.

Also, my post contradicts everything about COD in the original list.  It was also just one example off the top of my head, there are likely others.  It also shows a bit of bias in the original list since that was left out.

Let's just keep it at different ideas about moderatorship, then. It's nothing against you personally, I hope there's no offense taken.

Look at the game. Seriously, look at it.

It's a black and white game about a guy with a chainsaw on his arm that's basically about causing as much carnage as you possibly can, creating a massive bloody mess over the entire city. Oh, and it's made by Platinum Games. You know, those guys that have never made a commercially successful gaming, perhaps barring Viewtiful Joe.

In all honesty, how can anyone who dislikes the Wii see this as a victory? "HEY LOOK MADWORLD ISN'T SELLING MILLIONS THIS PROVES THE WII SUCKS LOL".

Well, okay, if you wanna go with that argument, fine. But then you also have to think that the PS2 sucks, because Okami sure didn't do very well there, and it had the exact same things working against it. Platinum Games, or Clover Studios as they used to be called, are artsy. That is their biggest asset and also their biggest fault. It's one of the things that make their games so special, but it also contributes to them not selling that much.

Do you think Sega went into this deal with them expecting MadWorld to sell millions? Not a chance. Anyone who expected MadWorld to be a massive seller was delusional, and anyone acting like they've "won" something because it isn't selling is being ridiculous.

This is a niche game on a mainstream console. It was never going to sell bucketloads. That said, sales seem healthy so far. It's not selling terribly. Just not particularly well either. And you know what? That's just fine.

Damage control. This game is heaps better than that crap Carnival Games, yet it only did 70k first week....

And why is it a thread like this always pops up whenever a 3rd party game that SHOULD be good, essentially flops? If it happens enough times, what you're trying to argue against must be true to some extent.

I mean, look at Zack and Wiki: "Oh, you can't calim victory. It's JUST a point and click adventure game"

NMH: "You can't claim victory. It's SUCH a niche game"

House of the Dead: "You can't claim victory. It's JUST a rail shooter"

and now MadWorld......

In your opinion MadWorld may be a better game than Carnival Games but that has very little to do with how a game sells. You have to grow up and realize that the opinion of the elitests generally doesn't translate into how any content sells, and (in all mediums) a lot of 'Crap' tends to sell dramatically better than the best material released in a given year. Consider that the teenage harlequin-romance series Twilight has (dramatically) outsold most of the best books written in my lifetime, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull made more money than most of the best movies that have been made in my lifetime ...

Now, for your list of excuses ...

When adventure games switch from a text interface to a point and click interface the genre rapidly died off, why should a point and click game released 15 years after the genre was important sell particularly well?

No More Heroes was Suda 51's best selling game ever and (as a result) is getting a sequel, why did you expect it to sell so much better than everything he has worked on in the past?

House of the Dead 2 & 3 were recently released for the Wii and sold at a similar rate to House of the Dead overkill, and it has now sold (almost) 1 Million units ... Why do you expect House of the Dead Overkill to have drastically different sales pattern to the other House of the Dead games released for the Wii.

And now for MadWorld ... With the exception of No More Heroes and Zack and Wiki every game that people have bashed for selling so poorly on the Wii has sold (roughly) 1 Million units 1 year after it was released. Don't you think you should wait until it has been out for more than a month or two before you write if off as having sold poorly?

Trolling is a important activity on teh Internet. Just think on the thousands and thounsads of people without nothiung better to do!

STFU about sales people!

Listen to IGNs podcast SEGA SAID THEY ARE HAPPY WITH IT'S SALES SO FAR.
now SHUT UP and enjoy the game and have a nice day :)

This is a sales tracking website... there are many gaming sites that don't track sales where you could make that complaint, but here it's totally out of place.

Yes but when people moan it's flopping and all that crap when Sega the publisher said they are happy with it's sales then there is no more reason to say it's a flop and cry it has not sold [insert some magic amount here they wanted it to sell] So it's not a flop to the publishers eyes and things are looking about right to them...then we should not worry and continue to play and enjoy it.

You've been here long enough to know that Sony trolls are not going to pay attention to the publisher if it contradicts their argument. This entire thread has been wave after wave of Sony fanboys cherry picking arguments and then jumping to something else when proven wrong.

And when Madworld hits a sales milestone, they will be nowhere to be found. As usual.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

Looking back, this game was hyped, advertised and reviewed very well. This was the first of many games Wii fans were sheering for as to show these types of games sell well on the wii. But, if I have to wait until 2010 to claim this game was a success, what is it now?
