Forums - Gaming - You guys need to stop trolling about MadWorld...

How come I don't see people here rooting on casual titles for the PS3 or 360 the way people root on EVERY SINGLE M-Rated game on the Wii? I say this with the declaration that Peggle is an evil game. So, to balance that, I will announce, I don't care about MadWorld. I am sorry, but I don't get off throwing a guy in a dumpster and watching the lid of the dumpster slam down and cut him in half.

I wish the M-Rating would have a sub-category for, "Childish mentality" as a warning, for games that appeal to pre-teens for excessive violence or pointless sexuality.

Oh, come on. You don't have to have a childish mentality to find MadWorld fun. Sure, it might add to it, but overall it's a good game and that's what counts.

And it's a far more intelligent game than your average blood and gore fest. It's satirical violence and it's largely deals with how the media feeds off of violence while simultaneously condemning it (or at leas that's what I've gathered so far, but I'm only in the third city area with the zombies thus far, there are other things developing that I've yet to get a peg on). There is a difference between gratuitous childish violence and violence with a point. You wouldn't put something like "Reservoir Dogs" in the same category as "Rambo". Games like Mad World and No More Heroes may be ridiculously violent, but also satirically so and with a purpose. If anything they are the exact opposite of what richard was implying.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Very well said. I was trying to think of a way to formulate what I felt, but I had a hard time putting it into words. I'm not as far as you are (last boss I fought was Yokozuna), but I'm definitely getting the same vibe right now.

A good example of a game that is very violent, but not so in a satirical manner, is Gears of War. Not that I'm complaining about Gears either, just drawing a parallel.

Wii violent game sales in order of Metacritic score (cause it is presented in a nice list):
Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition - 1.54m
Metroid Prime 3 - 1.5m
No More Heroes - 0.39m
MadWorld - 0.07m~
Bully - 0.4m
Call of Duty - 1.02m
The house of the dead - 0.18m
Smackdown vs Raw - 0.89m
The Godfather - 0.13m
Resident Evil:Umbrela Cronicles - 1.26

PS3 violent games list blablabla:

GTA - 5.51
CoD4 - 4.11
Biochock - 0.36
MGS4 - 3.89
Oblivion - 2.65
Killzone 2 - 1.24
Fallout 3 - 1.35
Orange Box - 0.2
Dead space - 0.58
Uncharted - 2.32

And the PS3 equivalents to Wii games (where available) so we compare aples to aples:
COD - 4.1m
Smackdown vs raw - 0.63m
The godfather - 0.2m

The rest are on PS2. Won't compare to Xbox360 cause it has better numbers.

We can see that even the equivalent games sell better on PS3 (ranging from slightly to strongly), even though the install base is 44% of that of the Wii, and even though there are many violent games on the PS3 to satisfy.

So yes, MadWorld would have sold better on the other consoles.

Wait, why didn't you list COD 3?  Is it because it completely messes up your point?

COD 3 Wii - 1.15 M
COD 3 PS3 - 0.63 M

Then the Wii didn't even get COD 4, which was the big critical and comercial success that made the franchise what it is today.  So it is difficult to compare this franchise after COD 3 because Wii owners didn't get what many consider to be the best game in the franchise.

(From what I have heard about COD 3 Wii, it wasn't even a very good game anyway, which further hurt the COD franchise on the Wii.)

So one game contradicts the whole list and pattern as a whole?

The list and pattern as a whole weren't great in the first place, so it doesn't matter much.

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

You know, usually I'd agree with you...but I don't.

For such a long time, Wii fans have been really pretentious. Note first that I'm OBVIOUSLY not talking about all Wii fans, but instead a select group of them. And these people were incredibly annoying. It's not like we all haven't heard the rhetoric of how the Wii is saving the industry, how developers are being destroyed by HD costs, and how the Wii's sales numbers make HD fans cry. I've seen a lot of condescending bullcrap from Wii fans, lots of bragging and jeering.

So you know what? I think it's time for revenge, and if this overhyped game is the opportunity to do it, then so be it.

LULZ THE BITTER TEARZ!!!

How you ever got to be a mod... I have no idea.

Do you always take cheap shots whenever you disagree with someone? I've said far worse things than this post and I still got to be a mod, so maybe it's not that you have no idea how I became a mod. Rather, you have no idea how to become one and just choose to be angry at everyone.

Well, I can't say I agree with you, Montana, but I guess I respect your opinion.

I mostly encounter it the other way around -- That Wii gets constantly ridicules and this is just yet another shot at it. But I guess we visit different places/threads.

As for the mod-stuff, well, I can see why he's a mod. Even though he's a bit ... Let's say, expressive, at times.
