Forums - Sony - Can God of War III get away with being similar to its predecessors?

The recently linked God of War III footage looked nearly identical to God of War II, with the slight change of the controllable monsters. However, the fundamental gameplay is still pretty much indentical to the first game.

So, do you think that this series is going to be able to still sell well despite being very similar to its predecessors? For me, the original gameplay is so good there is no need to change it

And you say it like it's a bad thing.

These are actually good news.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

Being 'the same but different' is normally the way to go in big game franchises it would seem, based on other examples. Too much change is more likely to lose sales than gain new ones.

Note I'm not saying this is good or anything, I prefer risks in my games, but the evidence is there that more of the same with a cherry on top and a graphics polish is the safe bet.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

MSI GT725-074 owner..... TRUE BEAST.. COD4 is a different game on PC.

I dont mind but we have seen 1 min of the gameplay its too early to say something about it. Maybe wait until we see more of the gameplay but hopefully they will change the gameplay a little bit and add something new so its not exactly like Gow 1 and 2.

why not??? If it works... why change it???

This is true not just for GoW, but for many games. What I don't like is people that say shit about a game from other systems (that they are the same) but when a game on his/her system doesn't change much (Like GoW) they say it doesn't matter.

I just hope that the thing of riding beast to kill soldiers get better. The example in the video was boring, repetitive and really long. 3 o 4 stabs instead of 50 would be great

I assume that was just to showcase the mechanism.

So you can play it how you want; wipe out all the skeletons before taking on the cyclops or take him on first and let him crush them all for you.

That's my guess, anyhow.

God of War's gameplay has always been wonderful and enjoyable. The story line of the game is what hooks you though. So if the gameplay is the same or relatively the same with some new abilities and a wonderful story (Like it's always had) to go along with it?

Count me in.

Day one purchase as far as I'm concerned. Much better series than DMC, NG,etc.
