Forums - Sales - Halo Wars ALREADY Showing Better LEGS than Killzone 2? ~ Why & Is it good?

When Killzone 2 release in Japan???

Around the Network

^ coupl weeks

April 23rd, I believe. Call of Duty 4 broke 130k on the ps3 lifetime in Japan. I think Killzone 2 will do similar numbers, if only because Sony will probably push it more heavily than Activision did Call of Duty, seeing as Sony is based in Japan.

It had a 30k opening in Japan.

killzone2 is now tracking below cod waw and fable2.

And in response to a thread the other day it will be lucky to make 2 million before July now, nevermind mid April.

Halo Wars isnt showing better legs and will always be around 300k behind KZ2... sold incredibly well for a RTS though.

Buut ... but ... its going to hit 4 - 4.5 million!!

no chance....  2.5m and it will pretty much flatline...  not what was hoped for surely.

I told people again & again the game has nowhere near the HYPE of MGS4.....so why are people even bothering to predict sales higher than it

but noooooo....no-one listened!

Everybig PS3 game that comes out has HUGE hype,no such thing as hype of MGS4,KZ2 is no different.

^ resistance has similar numbers so id peg it around there.

Yeah, Halo Wars is pretty great.

Too bad Microsoft decided it was so great that they wouldn't bother us with any more games this year, LOL!!!

Even worse, it was so great they decided to close the studio.  Worst gaming news we got last year, imo.  Possibly the worst this gen. ;_;

I'll never understand why people think internet hype translates into real world sales, then become disappointed when a game "should've done better."

But it was like a hydra, two heads popped out from the dead one.  I think that was the hydra.

Maths time!!

Halo Wars has been out for 4 weeks in Japan
K2 has been out for 0

Therefore for this discussion we must ignore Japan

Halo Wars has been out for 3 weeks in Americas
K2 has been out for 4
In the 3rd week, HW outsold K2 by 1 700

Halo Wars has been out for 4 weeks in Others
K2 has been out for 4
In the 4th week, K2 outsold HW by 22 000

Total is K2 outsold HW by 20 300

I'm not a big fan of this thread. And you know why? People are already making predictions on lifetime sales after 3 or 4 weeks of sales. And after only a couple weeks, these same people are determining which of two games has better legs. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Killzone 2 will end up with a higher lifetime total. And despite Killzone 2's nearly endless hype, a lot of people seem to ignore that there were nearly endless commercials for Halo Wars in America.

Naznatips, I agree that Halo Wars is fairly stripped down, but that really had nothing to do with sales. I'm just amazed that at least one developer managed to make a decent console RTS.
