Forums - Sales - so, how will the sd card solution affect vc/wiiware sales?

It depends on how large that "vocal minority". For me, I don't download stuff that often, so besides having an extra fun icon to click at the bottom of the Wii menu, nothing has changed for me.

I had downloaded enough games to fill up my memory requiring me to transfer back and forth with the SD card. I got annoyed and stopped downloading games. I will most likely start downloading games again.

i'm sure i'm a minority here, but i've dropped ballpark of $150 on wii downloads so far so if there even just a few thousand people like me it should add up.

Eh it'll give it a bit of a raise but its not really an issue about sales. Nintendo did this for convience.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

I don't know about other people, but me and my girlfriend are planning on buying 13 VC and WiiWare games, which we would never have purchased were it not for the update.

Well the old problem wasn't going to discourage me, from buying things in the future, but the change will encourage me to finally buy World of Goo.

I see piracy going up.. Homebrew is most likely working on a way to download all VC games on an SD Card. This breaks my heart though.

Pixel Art can be fun.

After i copied my games to the sd card yesterday, i bought Onslaught and it´s fun! =)

I think we will see a bump, just not a huge one because some wii gamers (IMO) are not willing to shell out thoes pricey 8 gig SD cards. hell just yesterday i was browsing around for 32 gig SDC and they're a couple hundred bucks!. I think we are going to see a boost in sales once the prices on the higher capacity SDC drops cause these prices are going to drop a lot in a few short years, which is why im not going to buy another SDC for a while.

By accepting SDHC cards, the Wii is now future proof.

To be honest, this means I can keep all my game saves on my Wii -- and still have enough room left to run (after DL-ing into memory) a VC/WW game. I will probably buy more now because I can. My free space went from 20-some to 600-some blocks (of course, I will lose 128 of those if I ever decide to play Elebits again).

If you give a Wii 300 free blocks, it will give you all the games you want.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I think there will be a slight increase in sales, and over time more wiiware games will be at the max size limit
