Forums - Gaming - Why i'm mad at my self for hating good RPGs

Everytime a new RPG comes out, I usually rent it to see if i can get into it. I NEVER CAN.

Mass effect: rented it, returned it and didn't like it

Fallout 3: rented it, returned it and didn't like it

Oblivion: rented it, returned it and didn't like it

Does anybody have this problem? I'm just used to shooting stuff, that when i try to actually get into a game i don't have the patience. It sucks too because of the great games i'm missing. Any advice?

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

the ones you mentioned are WRPGs i can understand your frustation, try starting with somethnig basic like the first final fantasys or dragon quest, maybe a tales game

That might actually be a solution as i have yet to try a JRPG. I'm thinking about waiting until FF13. Are there any other JRPG this gen?

theres lost odyssey, blue dragon, tales of veperia, tales of symphonia 2, the last remanant and inifinite undiscovery, all of those deserve a chance

well i usually go by reviews so the only ones i would play out of those would dbe lost odyssey, blue dragon, and tales of vesperia. never heard of tales of symphonia 2 but i can check that out.
thanks for the help

Tales of Vesperia and Valkyria Chronicles are the cure.

How far into the game did you come in Oblivion?

Here's a bit of advice, try some good RPGs like Morrowind or Fallout 2 :P

its because WRPGs tend to be a little tedious and sometimes boring (read: very tedious and horribly boring for some), the upside is they go more in depth and usually have pretty compelling stories.

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

you should give up gaming that is the only thing that i can tell you. although i did not care for fallout 3, and oblivion got really old after a while. but mass effect is one of the best games this gen.
