This is fantastic. This crushes Killzone and Gears of war.

not really , i noticed there is alot of Pop outs espicially when they view the sea, and when that tree falls off you see weird slowish frame rates and the shadow looks out of place.

however the Water effects are the best thing about CryEngine in my opinion

People seriously. Pop ins and frame rate will be addressed properly once the engine is fully finished. This is like a sneak preview.

OT: This is leagues ahead of any other console engine. In detail, Textures, Lighting, Effects. The list goes on. CRYTek must have been laughing their arse off at all the forum fights about PS360 being maxed. No game goes close to this. Heres to even better graphics on our PS360's. :)

The bold statement is incorrect.  The engine used for Killzone 2 to MUCH better.  Notice the Cryengine 3 only has 1 person in the forest and island outskirts area at a very poor framerate.  Killzone 2 handles MUCH more than this engine is dealing with...period.

Oh MY GOD. It's an engine PREVIEW!!!!!

It's not an actual game. LOL.

Bolded is quote of the year. You do realise it's fine if Sony lied about PS3 graphics advantage dont you. I and many others did say that the graphical claims by Sony were to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Yes does look great, but add in the guy running and gun battles and that would slow to a halt

IGN: "Yerli went on to describe how the engine is being built to perform across platforms. "The CE3 runs currently at more or less the same quality bar. I say more or less because the engine still optimizes itself to power of the platforms' intrinsics. So the PS3 will run slightly better here, it'll look and feel probably the same, but the engine is diverting computation needs to power subsystems available to the PS3, and the 360 differently, and PC differently."

Hopefully their engine wll end the 360 vs PS3 propaganda wars (engine of probably the most hyped FPS PC game to date). Optimising for the Cell's SPEs consumes a lot of time if they want to use their full potential, so differences may become more obvious (of course a multi-platform game still will have trouble optimising fully for the PS3, as you can't have one version with twice the amount of on screen activity compared to another version, which cannot handle this. This like the devs of Ghostbusters for example explained in the past, being able to achieve twice as much in this regard on the PS3 if there were no 360 version to worry about).

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

I should have known this would turn into a fanboy war with the usual suspects making their appearances spouting the same BS. Well I'm glad they got the CryEngine running on consoles. Crytek will now have access to more revenue since they'll be able to have PS3/360 sales in addition to PC sales.

So both this new engine and ID's new engine are claiming to be already optimized for each console.

I'm curious how Epic will respond as it seems (perhaps unfairly) that the Unreal engine is still skewed towards PC/360 and struggles with PS3.

Going forward, if you want to pick a third party engine to save some time/costs (assuming this works as depending upon who you listen to opinions vary) and want to release on PC/360/PS3 the options have expanded greatly it would seem.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I think the PS3 version will outperform the PC version if we compare performance from the perspective of someone who appreciates the power of the cell.

Tease.

well, it's not exactly news that the PS3 has much more potential computation power vs the 360, it just has a lower memory bandwidth but it's able to handle a lot more things at once if the game is exclusively optimized for PS3. most devs would just stick to their multiplat equation though so they can make more money =P. in the end, good games will be good games, doesn't matter what it's on.

na, the amount of memory and the difference in graphic chip performance are quiet big at this point, you don't need a CPU as powerful because your video card is doing a lot of the work, not to mention the new quad cores are pretty beasty by themselves.

I souldnt have put the vs in the title. I dont want this to start into a which console is better thread. What I wanted to show is that both the ps3 and 360 are handling this engine great.

You didn't do that cg render yourself. I saw that picture four years ago on cgchannel by the artist who designed it. He used Maya, so stop using people's work and say that it's yours. You ain't slick fool.

The Cell, The Cell!!!!! We are not Worthy!

I know you kidding, others won't lol.
