Forums - Nintendo - Do you still expect a Zelda Wii to be annouced this year?

ya they wont announce it this year

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

At last year's E3 did they say they had a Zelda game in development that was specifically for Wii or just a Zelda game in development? If they said one specifically for the Wii then I think we will see a preview at E3 if they didn't then it might not be until next year.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

They didn't specify. They merely said the Mario and Zelda teams were hard at work on new projects. People were bitching about the lack of Wii games specifically though, which prompted the comments, so they were taking the comments to mean these teams were working on Wii games, which is obviously not the case with the Zelda team. It may not be the case with the Mario team either.

Maybe after the DS game is out they will start working on the Wii Zelda properly. So don't expect a Wii Zelda until maybe 2011? I'm not saying they havent started making Wii Zelda, but most of the team are working on the DS Zelda now, which is unfortunate, as the Wii hasnt seen a Zelda yet (GC port).

Is it just me or is Nintendo purposedly ignoring the Wii? Plus NoA doesnt make things easier by not localizing new Wii games either. Wii USA owners are accostumed to this, so it was to be expected anyways. I knew it.

They said the PH/handheld Zelda team was going to help the console Zelda team, no?

Are there more than one team? Nintendo has them listed under one grouping called Nintendo EAD 3 which is a studio directly responsible for everything Zelda related and nothing else. Has Nintendo gone on the record that each division of EAD actually houses more than one major project at a time?

It's possible, given that they're re-using the Phantom Hourglass engine, but I wouldn't say for sure.

We know for a fact that the Zelda team is divided between console and handheld departments*, and I would be very surpriced if the console team was not working on Zelda Wii. Still, this means Zelda Wii probably won't be released this year.

*Aonuma confirmed this in an interview.

@bolded-I don't know this for a fact, that's why I'm asking. Can you link me to where Nintendo says the studio EAD 3 (Zelda studio) is split into handheld and home console teams?

@Khuutra-That makes sense. It's hard to say at this point, but Spirit Tracks does not sound like the name they would give a prominent Zelda project and frankly it sounds more like a spinoff or side project. Did Nintendo specify what kind of game it'll be during the keynote?

I knew about that, but so far, what we know is that their primary focus is the DS game. I don't understand the point of this really. Just announce Zelda Wii once and for all. Stop killing Wii owners. I've been waiting for something major announcement since E3 2007, but all of them were for the DS. Plus NoA isnt localizing games anymore so we're practically screwed.

And is Nintendo really ignoring the current Wii situation in Japan? Without great games, Wii will keep on going down, and they don't seem to care. I'm very disappointed with their Wii offerings. I bet you DS owners are jumping on their feet, too bad portable gaming is not my thing. I wish Nintendo focused a bit more on the Wii, like announce something for their fans. Not asking for Zelda or Mario specifically, but announcing Zelda for the DS after having released the previous one there is BS.

Looks like a full game to me.
