1 - 6 I would guess in their original formats...
But realistically there is no reason they could not port 7-9 as well on the VC.
That would be a smart move for SquareEnix

What about storage space (unless i guess it requires people to buy SDHC)? I feel Putting FF7-9 on VC is like Sony putting FF1-6 on PSN. (something feels off)
Sony putting FF7-9 on PSN (which im sure they're working on it as more PS1 games are starting to come to PSN) would be better IMO.
The storage space issue has been solved.
If people want the games, they must either compress the games to a reasonable size, or just throw the original size out there and make a small warning that an SD card is necessary to play them on the VC.
Simple as that I think.
As for those games appearing on the PSN... I agree, they should go there first.
But this market is open everywhere now.
They should put the games on all services including XBL
That's the difference between having a base of 20 mil, to 100 mil of potential downloaders.

Exclusivity rights for certain games on certain companies consoles still stand unless square enix made a really good contracts.

Exclusivity is a dying breed. 
But you got me there.
I do not know what kind of contracts exist for the priginal PS1 games. They may have the hammer on those bad boys for years .

From What I gather they are adding at least two new WiiWare games
-Sequel to My Life as King
and
-FFIV: The after
And they are also bringing FF, to the Virtual COnsole, which would mean that the original series would finally be released in its NES / SNES formats
