Forums - Gaming - Why must I spend $60 to buy Valkyria Chronicles to "save the industry"?

Richard, I'm pretty sure you're confusing what people have been saying. They suggest Valkyria to interested parties over other games because it's difficult to find in stores at times and because there are good odds it might be discontinued before it ever sees a price drop. It's less of a "save the industry" type thing, and more of a "save yourself some major dough by buying now instead of for $80-100 dollars brand new on eBay once it's long gone".

I'm honestly wanting to pick this game up, the demo didn't blow me away and srpg isn't my favorite thing, so $60 is too much to pay with 2 strikes against it; although I'm sure its a good game. A trophy patch would help my decision as well. I like their decision to be PS3 exclusive as well as release it in the United States, i just don't have that much money to throw around.

Infamous is looking like a must buy so that might take precedent over this as well, I do appreciate what sega did but I'm not paying $60 for this. I doubt that they will just not print any more copies and have the game's value go up on ebay, that doesn't help them in any way.

Now Sega I want yakuza 3 that's a day one buy for me, i loved the jpn store demo. Forget how well yakuza 1 and 2 sold in america, both games were released late in the shadow of PS3. I'm sure it would sell enough to cover costs. And better yet package kenzan with it, that will seal the deal on review scores.

I remember the "Buy Zack & Wiki!" and "Buy No More Heroes!" campaigns, but don't recall seeing much of this.

But I haven't been paying much attention lately.

I agree 100% with what you said.

lol...hilarious.

On topic: What everyone said...

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

If you buy games you really want, more games that you really want will be made.

If you buy games out of a sense of guilt, you're supporting more games that will appeal to your sense of guilt.

I'm a supporter of the don't buy games you don't want campaign.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)

This thread here was my motivation for this:

It was on how the "core" was threatened. (Sounds like someone trying to defend the enemies in Gradius actually). And then this line at the end:
Oh boy..... BTW if you see a copy of Valkyria Chronicles buy it please.

And there are others. This one was begging me to buy Valkyria Chronicles.

If you don't like it you can simply ignore it.

That is probably what most people do.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

This.

When I recommend Valkyria Chronicles to people, it's not like if they say they're not into SRPGs I shove it down their throats and stamp it into their limp bodies while laughing like a maniac.

I admit, if they say something like, "well, I've never tried that kind of game out before', I push a little bit, because they just might like it. I promote the game, because I want future games like VC. Obviously, you're not crazy about the game so you probably don't care as much?

Person 1: Does Valkyria Chronicles have trophies?
Person 2:  No.
Person 1: Forget it. I'm not buying it.
Person 2: Wait! It's amazing! Unique, charming, drop dead gorgeous... Hello?

I ignore most things. It's not hard once you get the hang of it.

I really enjoyed Valkyria Chronicles, but I don't care if you buy it.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.
