Essentially you can just say it is slavery in substance without a form.  Statiscally it is very unlikely that people "move up" in society simply because it is so difficult to do so.  I am not saying there is any way to avoid this, but some form of "slavery" is essentially inevitable in society.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

But there has never been an example of government running anything well. I would be much more for government reform then I would the government taking over.

This is factually incorrect. The federal-government-run VA Insurance Program is super awesome, was best in the country at one point and for all I know still is.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

oic you mean social mobility yes? surely if we treat everyone equally that will pass in time, progressive taxation and education should help with that too, theres alot that can be done to tackle it

Right now, while healthcare costs are very high, they are not a drain on government. Reducing them for the american people will not bring in more dollars to washington.

Ever hear of Medicare and Medicaid?  Once the government nationalizes health care, forcing less care, setting prices, and killing any innovation in new treatments or drugs, they will keep prices lower and thus spend less overall.

As for the deficit, Obama is on course to be the most fiscally irresponsible president in history.  I thought it would take him longer to surpass the irreducibly irresponsible Dubya in this regard, but he's quickly put together enough spending to literally bankrupt the nation.  One can only hope that Congress can put a stop to the insanity emanating from the executive branch on budget issues (I'm not holding my breath and neither should you).

Progressive taxation: Punishing people for working hard - rewarding the poor

Why some people feel health care is a "right" I'll never understand. Why do you have a right to the labor of a doctor? You don't, any more than he has the right to the fruits of your labor.

wrong, statistics show someone on the average wage works the same hours as someone in a multi-million dollar hedge fund
