Planescape: Torment, not only has the RPG story best ever, but also the greatest story in videogame history. It was even compared to literary pieces because of it's wonderful writing and uncanny depth for a videogame.

Baldurs Gate 2 > Planescape > Baldurs Gate. I don't consider Planescape the best RPG ever, but it's easily one of the best and far better than Xenogears. What makes Planescape so unique is it's wonderful story/narrative/writing/characters, which are the best of all time.

Agreed on the Baldurs Gate 2 > Planescape > Baldurs Gate.
Also agree with Planescape being one of the most awesom RPGs ive ever played, epic story + characters made it a win for me.
