@ OP: I do. The NES pumped out some the greatest pieces of music of all time. Game music composers had to be geniuses back in those days to make great music under such limitations.

Did the OP just imply that chiptunes are not real music?

Well, whatever. Of course I like them. The NES and the other early systems produced some of the best, most melodic pieces of music ever written. Sadly, most games go the ambient route these days - even Nintendo is guilty of this sin - although Megaman 9 proved game composers can still crank out the good stuff - they just need to get their act together.

Still, I hate cinematic ambience...

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

Seeing as I rate NES the best system of all time by quite a large margin, you'll not be surprised that I think 8-bit music is awesome.  Some of the composition is just excellent and rarely seen in today's games.
