The series lacks something, it can't stand with the big boys of gaming, the sound stands no chance with games like FF, it lacks the graphics, it lacks replay value, and the fact that they have no voice's for the people is a major downfall.

They need to totally re-invent this series to save it. Make it darker and more of a dark story to it, toss in a adult link and just get rid of the whole kiddy feel of it.

Of course this is just what i feel about the series and some of you may feel that they should go back to the GC style one they had. This is not a flame on the series i just want something more from it.

You do realize that a Final Fantasy game has never outscored a Zelda game right?  Who do you not think these games stack up against?  TP is the highest rated game of the entire generation to this point.  TP was much darker than previous titles, but I agree that it could get darker still.

However, my favorite Zelda is still Wind Waker...

Well since FF lost uematsu i dont hear any great sound, and zelda story is going to be just as good as any FF story (hint ff 12 had no character development, story lacked big time)

They dont need to do anything to save it, selling 3 million copies on a system that has sold 11 million is HUGE

ff 12 sold 5 million on a 100 million console.... get the drift

Zelda and FF are two of my favorite franchises, with FF beating it (though 12 again was a dissapointment GET SAKAGUCHi back! uematsu goes where he goes!) And zelda will always be a classic, and zelda will always stay with the big boys, and usually out perform them

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Great Objectivity, Mr. Turismo. Did you actually play Twilight Princess? The story was actually very dark. Darker than any other game in the series. Link was in his late teens. I don't think he's ever been older than that.

Out of curiousity, what are the 'big boys of gaming' that you cite? (other than FF)

According to our own database here, Twilight Princess has sold 3.65 million copies on the Wii, in addition to 1.31 in Gamecube sales. That's almost 5 million exactly, for those too lazy to do the addition: monster sale numbers. In fact, here is the TOTAL list of current-gen games that have outsold Twilight Princess:

Wii Sports (9.21 mil)
Wii Play (5.31 mil)
Gears of War (4.51 mil)

So far, it's only managed to outsell all but 3 of its generational competitors, and 2 of those 3 are the bundled Wii Sports and the remote-included Wii Play. (I'm not even counting Gamecube sales; if you do, then TP has outsold Gears by a fair margin.) We're still early in the Wii's lifespan - the game hasn't even been re-released as a budget priced "greatest hits" game yet - so the lifetime total may end up considerably higher before all is said and done. The notion that Zelda "can't stand with the big boys of gaming" is ludicrous.

GeOW = 4.51 million.

Twilight Princess Wii - 3.65 + Gamecube 1.31 = 4.96M

4.96M > 4.51m, so shouldn't it be  third behind wii play and wii sports with gears in 4th?

Twilight Princess was ported from the Gamecube, so it isn't exactly a Wii title in the same sense as MP3 - it wasn't built from the ground up. What I'm curious to see is what they do with the Wii Zelda. Do they keep it going along the same increasingly dark (in a good way) path set by Majora's Mask and TP, or do they opt to continue to WW timeline?

Turismo is clearly a troll looking for some fun, ignore him.

I'd like them to keep to the line set forth by OoT, MM and TP. Not that I think WW wasn't great, but I that style might actually be more appropriate for portables.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

Whatever you guys say.. i want the next game to be the prelude to the flooding of Hyrule (that would be an epic ending)

No offense (really), but I don't think you really get what Zelda is about. There's plenty of games that do exactly what you describe, but I'm glad Zelda is different.

I mean: Graphics, replay value & voice acting? That's all that comes to your mind when you think about Zelda? Then you're not a fan. How about deathmatches and online leaderboards?

The "kiddy feel", as you call it, is integral to the series and will never be removed. Zelda is not about some cool, badass soldier, it's about a boy facing an overwhelming adventure.

On topic: I think that Twilight Princess was one of the more "main story oriented" Zelda games, just like Ocarina. Majora's Mask was the very opposite (I once read that the Japanese working title translated to "side story", btw.) - and for that reason, it's my favourite Zelda game.

Gone downhill? You really can't say that. Majora's Mask was VERY different and still absolutely brilliant. Wind Waker had some annoying flaws, but was a great game nonetheless, providing a lot of new elements. Twilight Princess: Incredible atmosphere, best story so far, I loved the story driven parts ("saving Midna", for example), and the new twist in the music. Phantom Hourglass - Can't wait to play it, and some previews already stated it is one of the best Zelda's so far.

Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)

I snickered when I read thisjust becauseit made me think about bad voice acting being added to Twilight Princess.

Twilight Princess was pretty dark, and Link wasn't really a kid in it.
