Forums - Gaming - PETA: Future COD should be more dog-friendly

Neither is anything wrong with keeping the dogs in the CoD game. Who the fuck are the PETA to tell me, you or any developer out there what they should or shouldn't do? Last I checked they weren't even an active part of the gaming industry.

This is just them trying to force their views onto everyone else. As usual...

Here is a good example of just how far these groups go.

http://www.newsday.com/news/printedition/longisland/ny-lipeta176072241mar17,0,5333870.story

A fucking Elementary School of all places... stopping children on the way out of school to preach to them about how bad circus' are and how badly they treat animals.

When I read that in my Newsday the other day I felt enough was enough.

ok first off im gonna go ahead and disregard the second par since it has nothing to do w/ the argument.

Secondly ... i dont see them forsing their vies on anyone... they were just offended by what they saw.... and that was something that can absolutelly be removed in the NEXT CoD without it hurting the gameplay in anyway... why is this such a problem?

It has to do with the PETA trying to force  push their views on everything, including trying to do so now with the gaming industry.

Giving and an doing what I bolded would be exactly what I am trying to point out. It would be us giving in to their views on how things should and shouldn't be done. That is what the "problem" is.

Why is a problem to have the dogs in there? Because the PETA doesn't like it? Too bad.

ok im gonna go ahead and twist in on you real quick

if a publisher makes a game tomorrow on the major consoles and in it i will include baby seal clubing that would be ok since in a video game? A lot of people including me will find it distastefull.... as with this game... some people find it distastefull... once again i must reinorate that having dogs in the game does not improve the gameplay in any way... and they are not asking to pull the game off the shelves.. they are asking to not include them in the next game

and i do not see the conection with fictional pokemon in which by theway they never graphically die....

In W@W the game isn't about the execution of animals for sport, it is portraying a part of WWII that was actually happened. It is trying to stay true to the horrors of that war during that time.

Even if a game like you are mentioning came out, would I have an issue with it? I probably would, but it all depends on how it is being represented.

Do I condone the execution of an animal in the way they do so, by clubbing it in the head? No I do not. Will I sit here and bitch and moan about it and try to get my way and take away the developers right to express themselves and cater to an audience that may enjoy that? No I will not. Who am I to say what someone should or shouldn't do?

If I do not like it I do not buy it and/or play it. Problem solved. We are all adults here, we can make our own decisions, I don't need the PETA trying to make them for me.

What is next? Do we get rid of hunting games? Do we deprive those who actually enjoy those things because someone else doesn't?

You are trying to argue your point and I am trying to argue mine. My point is that I think we shouldn't allow a group like the PETA to dictate what we can and can not do. Your view seems as though you think that we should ultimately bend to their will.

This is an argument that will have no end and that is why I am ending my portion of my argument here.

Point is, games aren't for everyone. It is something you need to learn to accept.

Agree to disagree ;)

Final thoughts:

I do not think that dev's should bent to organisations like PETA, im just saying that the negative press keeps piling up.. and if a game offends some one.... (and especially this is if it is something that not hurting the integrity of the game) just take it out in the next one and avoid getting more negative press

PETA is just a bunch of idiots they have a good cause to prevent the unethical Treatment of animals how ever its stupid attacking cod seriously who would kill a dog after playing this game they should be more worried about the people who keep goldfish in small bowels

I don't think an argument with PETA is bad press. People don't take them seriously.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

www.xnagg.com/zombieasteroids/publish.htm

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Infinity Ward give dogs guns and make them some bad-ass-Rambo-mock-ups in COD6 - that will sure make PETA happy.

Bad press is better than no press.

This is a perfect example. If the people on PETA's side still don't understand, then there is no hope.
