Me? I personally hate VGC.
I came here for the news and sales stats a year before I created an account to post. Its always been informative, but sometimes the user-made threads need to be avoided. =)
I found VGC when I was looking for numbers on consoles sales. It excels in that area and provides good estimates on game sales -- all for free.
But I stayed because you can have at least semi-intelligent gaming discussions in here. That is very rare on the Internet today.

I wonder how many people who "bash" VGC actually get updates from NPD or just believe it as gospel.

These people are easy to spot. They usually refer to NPD numbers as "official."

I never found out about the hate this site gets, if I didn't read what you guys said about it. I just came here from a newssite, and it wasn't long before I got sucked in by the forum!
I still hang around one other forum I used to visit before, if only to make sure all the Xbots don't dominate it too much, and also spread knowledge of the PS3 to those who are ingnorant. But I have visited other sites as well, and on no other forum have I seen as many good threads as I have on VGC! I love you all! 
To be honest, VGC doesnt have the best reputation around the web. The users really should stick up for it when they see us getting bashed.

It doesn't have the best reputation, but who cares as long as we enjoy ourselves here. I've been a lurker for so long and just recently decided to join in the awesome discussions.
The community here is a million times better than the Gametrailers community. That place is filled with Sony fanboys.
Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^
Found the site while looking for sales charts (typed game sales charts in goole)... kinda fit the description well =D
now for the people here.... I don't use the forums, just the last posts on the home page... I find it to be the best source of news as it comes from every site.... I barely look at other game sites now :p
I think the site does good things with the news, maybe they try to expand a bit too much yes... we'll see how V2 of the site is.
