If from DKII's sales article then you forgot to add European revenue.

Edit... also according to DKII... Nintendo takes about 30% for Wiiware games.... so it does actually work out at about $2 million direct revenue to 2Dboy.

This is really excellent news, and truly makes World of Goo the poster boy for WiiWare. That's an unbelievable return on investment that these two guys completely deserved.

As to the numbers, I'm pretty sure they meant 55-60% of the sales of World of Goo came from WiiWare, not revenue or net profit. The quote from the article is: "He revealed, via a chart, that 25 percent of all World Of Goo sales in 2008 came from 2D Boy's website, and Steam was a smaller slice. " And IGN also says the same thing in their article: http://wii.ign.com/articles/965/965440p1.html

Either way, this definitely supports the fact that if you put effort into making your game, sales will follow. Hopefully more independent developers will think about putting their new game on WiiWare.

Well, it's still not certain because often companies use the word "sales" to indicate revenue.... Sony and Nintendo both do so in some instances of their reports.

I think with it being an interview though it is more likely sales if they said sales.

Thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't sure which way to go with it, since the next paragraph on gamasutra reads: "Retail was only responsible for between 2 and 3 percent of their revenues, and WiiWare was a majority, around 55-60 percent -- though he did note that Steam was a much larger percentage in 2009."
