Ads that make no sense....

  • 2010 MUST Haves: WKC, Heavy Rain, GoWIII, Fable III, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, FFXIII, Alan Wake, No More Heroes 2, Fragile Dreams: FRotM, Trinity: SoZ, BFBC2.
  • Older Need To Buys: Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Deadspace, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2.

There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.

Should make some comparisons to Sony game ads and Microsoft game ads.
I dont think ive ever seen a 360 ad that aint appealing, whereas the PS3 ads... like the Baby one above just seem to be wierd.

PS3 games need ads like the "Mad World" Gears of War ad... now THAT was epic.
When Sony break even with the PS3 and start to make profits maybe we'll see some decent ads and way better sales on games.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Is there such a thing as "marketing as an underdog"?

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

I Pretty Sure those Crash Bandicoot ads is what hes talking about SONY KILLED ADS BACK IN THE DAY

Well, stuff like that.  But, also positioning yourself as something new and different and have to have.  The Black Onyx spot was about as good as it got this time around I believe.

Means you are marketing from a trailing position, as a challenger.  You don't compete from the presumptive position you are on top.  Doesn't mean you give impressions you are an underdog, just that you are competing.

In Sony's world, they are still the leader.

Sony has been humbled, they've lost their cockiness. When I saw they'd frozen all wages I felt bad for them.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8
