why do they take so long, they must take four or five times what updates take on my 360, anyone know why?

Never had any problem with it myself. It takes mabye 5 mintues at the most, and there are plenty of things I can do for five minutes if I have to do an update.

in general I noticed that XBL is fast than the PS store in downloads and such, but I always have my laptop around so I just do what ever 'till it's finished

It doesn't take me too long for the updates, maybe 10 minutes, but for the really big downloads (demos over 1 GB, etc), I just keep my PSP with me. =)
