Forums - Gaming - Wanted dev praises PS3/360, Wii is a "****ing Genesis" --~-- Do YOU Agree?

Let's see.... if the Wii is a genesis.. the DS is the SNES combined with the GameBoy.. then the PS3 and 360 are a NeoGeo and Philips CD-i??

The Wii's base is little kids and women? Even though that's been proven wrong and 30 some year old males are the biggest demographic? It seems you guys like to argue against facts.

Love how Neoraf is telling people to grow up.

I disagree that Wii demographic base is Lil kids and Woman, and also arnt most men like 30 have kids? Nintendo is smart this gen, they can prepared and did some reasearch unlike some other Companys in third place with there console.

i had respect for Pete Wanat, until i saw that episode of invisible walls, imo he showed himself like a complete idiot and showed the mentality that is damaging the industry

So this guy makes games where you shoot stuff? That is very interesting.

The Wii has games where you can shoot stuff too.

Unfortunately he's right. That's the price Nintendo paid for having such massive sales this gen.

Look at successful Wii games and judge for yourself. So the Wii is about as powerful as the original X-Box- Is this news or somthing? He has a point though a developer can make a game with pretty high end graphics and know he can have it on PS360.

The Wii shares more titles with Gamecube and PS2 then PS360 there's a reason for that. And so long as Wii owners continue to not support quality titles like Madworld and No More Heros, you can expect the trend to continue.

yeah but is the wii really supporting Madworld and No More heroes? there selling like ASS. In a way i agree with the underlying comments that this dev says but he went a little too far. But for the most part i think we can agree that 3rd part games dont sell well.

No More heroes sold like ass?

Check out Killer 7 on the PS2 and try and say that again....

No More Heroes was an unqualfied success... one that systems like the PS2 could never produce.

I think most people need to relax. This is typical behavior of a paradigm shift. You will always be able to show 100% undeniable proof and they will still ignore it coming up with insane statements, anger, insults to justify why their Newtonian laws are the only laws of the universe. Even though now Newtonian Law is only a subset of greater set.

When switching to new Laws you need to change your personal model. You cant' work with Plank Particles and expect to apply Newtonian Laws to receive expected out put. This game developer is doing exactly that. Old model won't work with the new Model.

The new Model isn't about casual games. It's about presentation. If you don't present yourself right you won't work in the new model. The "hardcore game" selling in the new way of thought won't work if you use old thought selling presentation model.

The new thought is about people having fun, not about how big the developing team members are or the graphics.

He's just a dying causality holding on to old ways. Rather than blame his own inadaqucies on himself he would rather blame others.

I don't think the only point is that "Wii is for little kids and old people". The point is that quality games- third party games particulary- Wii owners are not buying them. So long as Wii fanboys ignore this fact plug up their ears and go "FALALALA! I can't hear you!" Is not helping the case for better games on Wii.

You know, I've yet to see some example of quality games that are on the Wii that supposedly didn't sell well that aren't niche in some way. How many big third party games on the Wii actually flopped?

Too vague. Depending on "quality", "well", "niche" and "big" there could be many or none. Same on any other console.

But just for fun: Okami, Tenchu, Tomb Raider, Deadly Creatures out of the top of my head.

@jayderyu

I very much hope there's nothing like a "new thought" to which everybody must conform. It's not like the Wii is pushing the industry forward: it moved sideways.

It's like the movie industry versus television productions: the tv is aimed at a larger demographic, is more accessible and easier to consume, has lower production values and lower quality of presentation. There is great tv series, but the lower threshold also means more crap.

The movie industry went through a panic phase when the tv first started making inroads, in the very same way as some game industry people. But in the same way as movies, big production value games will find their way in parallel with the productions for the widened audience.

Asking the people who always directed movies to drop everything because the tv is the future, because it brings more money or because it has a larger audience is disrespectful and irrealistic. We need good tv and good movies, both can be done and both can be enjoyed. I am strongly against the idea of forcing an uniformity of thought.

He said that. I think this thread is over.
