Wii players are little kids and women.

It's funny because SO many surveys have said this, but Wii fans get angry and say "you're just generalizing, so I'll take your opinion with a grain of salt"

Then you wouldn't mind providing some links for me?  I don't think I've seen one of these surveys yet, so let's have a look.

And that's not even the one I was referring to....it's just the most recent one I could find....but it essentially says the same thing as the others

truth hurts, wii boys!

Why are people complaining? it's the truth. For games to sell properly (i don't mean Wii sports or Fit) you need GAMERS who will buy them. From my experience a lot of Wii owners are not gamers, just casual players with a passing interest. Nintendo know this as their marketing is primarily at a casual audience.

I lol at "wii boys". Was that suppose to be an insult?

@tkc - Actually, its not the truth, when you have several 3rd party games selling over a mil units on the Wii. This dev is upset that a half-arsed port of his didn't do well on the Wii, that's really all it is. With his numbers on profitability for Wii titles, he is horribly off the target, which shows that he is inexperienced.

As for Nintendo's advertising, the core markets don't need advertising for Nintendo IP. They await Smash Bros, Mario, Zelda, Metroid games. These games are guaranteed to sell even with minimal advertising. As for the 3rd parties, its on their own shoulders to advertise their "core" games better. COD:WaW is a good example of good advertising paying off, with the game selling over 1 mil units.

Talk about lying with statistics... Did you read the article you linked to BMaker? It doesn't prove Noeraf's point in any way.  All it says is, for the 4th quarter of 2008 (October - December), the Wii attracted more boys from ages 6-11 and females over the age of 35 than the PS3 and 360.  It does not say that the Wii audience is exclusively, or even predominantly, made up of the two aforementioned demographics.

Wow, this guy has no success I know of yet he's already running his mouth.

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Well, what he said when he decided to run his mouth demonstrates why he hasn't seen (and probably will never see) much success ...

One trait I have noticed in people who have a long history of critically acclaimed excellent selling games is that they tend to be very modest, they accept responsibility and attempt to learn from their "Failures", and they look for the oportunity rather than the challenge in everything. Regardless of whether he ever works on the Wii again or not, this developer would probably grow a lot more from asking what he did wrong that prevented Scarface from becomming successful, then from getting mad that Wii owners did not buy his half-assed port of a second rate clone of a popular game where the only thing of value was the 30+ year old IP that was licenced to create it.

With that said, one thing I wish these developers who complain about the Wii's graphics would learn is that the quality and appeal of the underlying game content matters far more to consumers than the graphical polish put on top of it ...

Is that better? It flat out says it from Nielson Media Research. No set time frames, just flat out userbase (not like Oct-Dec would be different, and all of a sudden in June to September, the Wii would suddenly take the "core gamer")

And like I said, this is just the most recent one. There are many past surveys that show up the same results, PS3 = oldest, Wii = kids and women. You think that just because the previous article specifically said "October to December" that any other time of the year, the audience the Wii attracts would be different?

If you survey 1,000 people of which 100 own a Wii and 50 own a PS3, 33% of Wii owners are males over 21 and 50% of PS3 owners are males over 21 does that mean that the PS3 is more popular with males over 21? That is (essentially) what Nielson argues with their study ...
