Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo and Ubisoft only companies making money on Wii

I really wonder about the authority of someone who is known for making movie-based video games.

Maybe he is just upset that no one bought Scarface on the Wii.

When you see comments on places like GameTrailers trashing someone for trashing the Wii, you know the comments are off-base.

I baught Scarface, but haven't played it. I only got it because it is Scarface lol.

Anyway back on topic, what a nugget.

Sega (mario and sonic olympics soon there will be winter olympics), Activision (guitar hero) easily make profit on the Wii, Even Capcom from the ports its been doing. Especially RE4.

If mad world needs to sell 2-3million to make a profit, then I guess by his mathamatical genius, MGS4 would have to sell 2-3Billion to make a profit from the budget that was used on that game.

What we didn't know about Wii:

- Nintendo and Ubi are ONLY companies making money on Wii - Nintendo with the 1st party software and Ubi with the Petz games.
- Wii compared to 360/PS3 is like "a Genesis"
- You'll probably never make your money back if you spend $500k/$600k
- Unless you spend $350k/$500k - you will not see any return on the investment.
- GUARANTEED to lose money if a development is over $2 million
- MadWorld must sell 2-3 million copies to make a profit.
- In order to port a 360/PS3 game to Wii, you will need to make a thats "less than a PS2 game".

Nintendo will pop up on Monday with evidence to refute this. Its a bunch of GT bullshit, the same bullshit that prob. led N'Gai to leave the Wii hate generator.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

So assuming $10 goes to the developer for every copy sold, you would need to sell a amazing 200k to actually make up a $2 million budget. Currently there are 190ish games in the database which hit that huge target for the Wii. Amongst them such great hits as Dora's ice adventures, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Rockstar games presents Table Tennis, Build-a-bear Workshop and other liscensed crap made on a fraction of that budget. Kinda puts it all in perspective.

Wow. If MadWorld needs to sell 2-3m to cover costs then the only HD games that could even possibly have made money is Halo 3 and maybe GTAIV. What a complete disaster!

Man that guy is a tool.

BS. But he does make a good point about the motion plus.

"after two years since the wii came out you are finally getting a controller that is going to work as intended......"

It's true. Definitely not as good as it should've been. Aim lag FTL.

Wii doesn't have aim lag.

Bullshitting FTL.

Yes it does. It's especially noticeable in frantic games.

Or maybe it's just the poorly made games doing it?

(serious question)

I believe it has to do with the way it's coded. In Twilight Princess, there's a significant pointer delay. It might have something to do with the framerate, since Metroid Prime 3 has almost constant 60 fps and no pointer lag troubles. Anybody notice anything with MoH, CoD3 and CoD5?

The BuShA owns all!

This guy just time travel from 2006 or something? :D

CoD W@W, MoH, and Quantum of Solace were dead on, they rival mouse and KB controls.

MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"

Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000

Any pointer delay occurs due to using the wrong cables and a HDTV.

This guy needs to read Activisions financial report, they made more money from Wii than either of the HD consoles.
