If you want to see, open your eyes. It's your choice to remain in your self-induced darkness.

By the way, I doubt you remember, but last year (more than 7 months ago I think) you were so...enthusiastic, about Wii's future and upcoming 2009 games. I remember telling you, you'd see nothing, nothing woth the wait come April 2009. Well, your time is almost up. I've also provided facts in the past that proved that very, very few third party JAPANESE developed games sell well on the Wii (and far worse or nothing outside Japan, *except* for some rare Sega game) I'd be very amused if you could show any kind of data that can prove this wrong. It was true months ago when I said that, and guess what? it's still is. The Wii is the "king" of the market, yet the big third party titles don't sell best on the Wii, or not much anything else from third parties big game or not. Why is that? Have anybody seen somthing like this before? In the years of NES, SNES and PlayStations, could you really find so many third party strong titles NOT selling on the #1 selling console but instead selling a lot more on the competition? Then you people get angry when someone says the Wii doesn't compete directly with the HD consoles, you see? The guy from the OP has a very fair point, he expressed himself like a jerk, but most of it was very true.

@ The - I don't think there's any question that most core gamers own an HD system and even if they do own a Wii they'd rather play the same game in HD.

So it's no surprise games sell better on HD consoles. Especially when the Wii version is gimped in more than just graphics. CoDWaW is missing modes and vehicles on Wii (although still a strong performance), Lara Croft was even reported broken and unplayable on Wii due to a bug on some copies.

However, that's different than saying that those games can't also be successful on Wii.

Wii sales are more based on legs than 1st week sales so it's too early to call - Madworld, HoTD:O, Dead Rising - they might all still be successful long term

1/4m for Lara Croft is enough to justify it's existence (it's making money)
1m for CoDWaW is very profitable for Activision. No complaints there.

PES09 - That is YOUR err. It launched on Wii 6 months after the HD consoles. That is to say last week. So your comparing 1 week (in NA) to 6 months ww.

RE games - Only the first two were released ww and are both very successful. As successful as HD? No. Profitable? Hell yeah.

Z&W, DC, CJ, Tenchu 4 were all bombs. Probably losing money. Too bad but that's hardly unique to Wii. Many games on HD systems have had better sales and lost even greater amounts still. Which explains why 80% of 3rd parties are losing money.

^Let's talk about 2009....right off the bat , from the top of my head I can tell you these hits from the first quarter which is about to end in a few days:

Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter 4, Killzone 2, Halo Wars, and let's throw in there GTA4 DLC. That's Q1 2009 , all third party. Will you be so kind to list what the Wii's got to show for it?

selling 2/3 million on wii to be profitable???

no way

capcom said zack and wiki was profitable on 300 000 selling *but just a few*

no mores heroes will have a pequel *with only 350 000*
de blob will have a pequel with 600 000
boom blox with 900 000 is now a succes
cod5 wii million seller with cost /4 to the hd version *profitable with 300 000 in my mind *
only SSBB or mario galaxy should demand 1 million (madworld doesnt have 5 year to be maked like mario galaxy*

Again, you're comparing apples to oranges.  Wii games don't normally have large 1st week sales, they sell at a slow, steady rate for months and months.

Wii Fit just eclipsed Halo 3's sales in NA.   I called that before launch but vertually no one else did.  No one ever would have based purely off 1st week sales.

If we're talking Core games, Wii hasn't had any releases comparable to RE5, SF4, KZ2 or HW.    HoTD isn't that big a franchise, but it should hit 1m copies eventually.   Madworld?  New IP, niche title.   And what else has come out?  Tenchu? Small fry but did bomb.  Deadly Creatures? Guaranteed bomb irregardless of system.  Onechanbara?  Like the 360 version did so much better?  Dead Rising?  HUGE bad publicity killed any early sales this could have ever hoped for.  It might have legs though.  Time will tell but no one (should) expect it to sell as well as it did on 360.

Wii is a very different audience than 360/PS3.  It sells a lot of titles that the HD system wouldn't.

The only question should be if 'core' games can sell and be profitable on Wii.  And that's been proven again and again as yes.   HD systems will sell them in greater quanity, no surprise there, but also at much higher development costs and much bigger risk.   As such most core games will continue to goto the HD trio PS3/360/PC but I expect Wii will continue to get the big well known franchises (RE, CoD, Tomb Raider, likely some Tom Clancy or PoP title in time) and more risky titles.

I was going to correct The as well but you've done it for me!

I was especially going to point out PES2009 wii... it just launched here this week i think, a similar situation with what happend with the 2008 version, and i remember reading somewhere that it sold a really good amount considering it was six months late (VGchartz does not have this data however).

Wii is about legs and not about being front loaded... check the million sellers list, the amount of games that were realeased almost a year ago are now creeping past million units

Where's PES 2008 for Wii in that list? Guys, the Wii has technically HALF the market to itself, let's be conscious of that here. That list is not enough. Take away from it the 16 Nintendo titles from the total of 47, not good enough. And what are the best third party titles? Sonic Olympics and Carnival games?? no, really?

@RolStoppable excuses, and lame ones, sorry.

Wii is the KING, show me what a king does. Half the market for christ's sake.
