Forums - Nintendo - Wii Disc Reading Problem

I was wondering if anyone else has gotten this error:

An error has occurred. Press the Eject Button and remove the disc, then turn the Wii console off and refer to the Wii Operations Manual for help troubleshooting.

It has happened every time I insert a disc and the blue light only turns on briefly and it makes a few clicking noises and won't read any disc... I know this was a common problem with Smash Bros but its happening on all discs. Does anybody know of a solution to this that doesn't involve buying a new Wii? Mine is out of warranty..

my warranty is over too, they fixed mine a year ago but now i have the same problem , i think the best solution is to find a respectable shop were they can give your wii maintenance, some clean up and if the problem is still there, you'll have to replace the laser, or that´s what they told me.

wii fc : 7188 5379 1382 7074

i never have that, but sometimes it doesnt read a game first time i insert it

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Yeah, I've gotten that error many times before. Usually I just kept trying again and again and it worked. It kept doing that for a while but it no longer does that for me. Like it fixed itself or something somehow. Don't know how to actually fix it but if you keep trying to insert the disc and play the game multiple times it'll work after a little while.

I had this with PangYa; I was about to take the game back until I decided to use the Wii horizontally. Since then it's been very well-behaved (in any orientation).

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

You know mine did that one time when I bought a new game. It kept spitting out the disc (I believe it was SSBB). I went to the system update as I hadn't played it in quite some time and updated the firmware and have never seen it since.

I had the same issue + the drive being quite load all the time. Luckily when SSBB came out it wouldn't read it and I got my Wii replaced.
