@Nightsurge
yes it is true about the SO4 disc swapping multiple times throughout the game. It is one of the reason's it got such poor review scores.

Ehm, it has got very good review scores.

no, it did not get very good review scores. Gi gave it a 7, GS a 7.5, IGN an 8, it's metacritic score is 79. This isn't exactly a bad score, but for such a popular and established franchise these are poor review scores. SE has not been able to really make it this gen, I don't know whats up with them.

79% is exactly where all the other Star Ocean titles rank, stop with the spin:

1. Sony PSP: Star Ocean: Second Evolution (2009) 77
Square Enix

2. Xbox 360: Star Ocean: The Last Hope (2009) 79
Square Enix

3. Playstation 2: Star Ocean: Till the End of Time (2004) 80
Square Enix

4. Sony PSP: Star Ocean: First Departure (2008) 74
Square Enix

5. Playstation: Star Ocean: The Second Story (1998) 80

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III

Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII

Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

If NPD's figures is anything to go by, Star Ocean 4, a game also by Square Enix, performed miserably on the 360, failing to hit the top 20 its first full week on the market.

Does no one understand the difference between developers and publishers anymore?  Star Ocean 4 is a game by Tri Ace, SE only published it.  Also it was developed using the same engine they used for Infinite Undiscovery which was a game partially funded by Microsoft.

those tiny details to the side... whats your point?

Aside from the fact he also called out SE for making a poor decision on only releasing SO4 on the 360, which again was a decision by Tri Ace, not SE, he's implying that SE has not had a successful track record on the 360 by using the sales of SO4 as an example.

So far the only internally developed SE game out on the 360 is The Last Remnant and it has sold a little under 600k copies which is not that bad.

As others have pointed out, probably just talking about NA.

Even if it was released in Japan for 360, look at recent Multi-platform releases in Japan, the PS3 version outsold the 360 version by a fair margin.

se shipments show tlr was overtracked for the holiday period. i doubt its legs held up afterwards at all if launch and holiday sales were medioc

alright, so all the other star ocean games didn't get good scores either. Doesn't change my point that the disc swapping on the final disc is one of the reasons that SO4 got taken down to the score it got. that is all I was trying to say people.

It has been adjusted down by vgchartz so you can stop with that excuse.

We're on the VGC forums, I'll go with their numbers.  If Brett thought there should have been an adjustment he would have made one.  Why do you even frequent these forums if you doubt their numbers?

US probably, but not worldwide.  I expect FFXIII to sell quite a bit more on the ps3 in Europe and Japan by the time it releases.  And although FFXIII will sell more on the 360 in the US, I expect the attach rates to be a LOT better on the PS3.

Are you one of these "if it doesnt have 90+ score then it sucks" people? Since when is 8 a bad score?

  Oh well, whatever.

"formerly Sony-exclusive series"

I don't remeber Resident Evil being a exclusive for Sony PS since the N64....

Final Fantasy isn't exclusive either, they made XI for the 360 years ago, and many previous FF have made it to handhelds.
