Though neither only Pikmin is out in the UK yet, I am going to buy the Wii-make of Pikmin or Pikmin 2. I haven't played either, and I may consider buying both if I enjoy the first I buy.

Which of Pikmin or Pikmin 2 is best to buy from the perspective of a new customer?

Both games are very good but Pikmin 2 is the better of the two.

Pikmin 2 is undoubtedly the better of the two, but i would advise starting with Pikmin, which btw, is already out in the UK. It is shorter, smaller game, but how are you going to appreciate the genius of the second game, if you have not yet played the first.

Pikmin 2

Pikmin has 3 different types of Pikmin and a time limit, Pikmin 2 has 5 different types of Pikmin and I understand it doesn't have a time limit (I've only played the first one).

Pikmin 2 has a mulitiplayer mode too and also I's assume is harder due to the fact you have to co-ordinate more types of Pikmin..

I'd go for number 2 if I was buying either one.. There's no real stroy behind them so you don't hav to worry about that..

Pikmin 2. I didn't like the first one but Pikmin 2 was AMAZING.

Pikmin 2 is bigger, broader, less time-limited, more varied and on the whole the better game.

The original is more self-contained, the story makes sense and the gameplay is slightly simpler (though plenty tough enough given the time limits).

Because the gameplay mechanics and the general nature of the game are the same, either one of them will get you into the Pikmin universe. BUT there's a chance that if you get Pikmin 2 first you might find the original disappointing.

So I would suggest either:

1) start with the original, then get 2, OR

2) if - which is probably the sane option if there's a chance you'll only be getting one of them - you get 2 first, then set yourself challenges when you buy the original, otherwise it will seem too easy. Go for the 9-day challenge, which puts a whole extra layer of difficultyin.

 I'd say get both as they are both good. Pikmin 2 is better. Can't wait for part 3.
