Forums - Sony - What I like about my PS3, and things related to my PS3

MGS 4 should get a mention as it is the best game exclusive to PS3 - MGS 4 is so much better than Kill Zone 2. MGS 4 has the best story, gameplay/controls, cut scenes in a game on PS3.

I borrowed a friends  PS3 and played both Kill zone 2 and MGS 4 for a week. I only needed to play the two games on PS3 and see what I think and MGS 4 owned Killzone 2 in all categories except for graphics Kill Zone 2 had the edge. I do not play games online due to having slowest online broadband connection. I can not comment in regards to the games online.

I actually had MGS4 and I just wasn't a fan.  I respect the game and won't call it a bad game because it isn't, I just didn't like it.

People just assume because I don't like Home, FFXIII, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm, get random bugs on Killzone 2, and hate things with short battery life that automatically means I hate the PS3.

IMO the PS3 is an awesome console, I however also like the wireless PS3 controller (it's even good for re-playing old Amiga and Snes classics under Linux on the PS3!). IMO battery life is a minor issue, they last much longer than the longest play session I´ve ever had. Maybe buy this, so you can charge them when done gaming:

I like Home as well (even my dad liked playing some chess, my girlfriend already loves it), I see a lot of potential for Home, looking forward to that EA sports complex being worked on.

Has FFXIII even be released yet? I don't have much anticipation for this game neither, other than for tracking its sales potential.

Other things I like is its relatively sturdy nature (at least well within industry standards) and the fact that Blu-Ray discs don't scratch. I love the fact that every PS3 comes with a harddrive and Wi-Fi by default. Also anyone with an internet connection can easily play games online (about half of XBox 360 gamers can't connect to online games according to an internal Microsoft memo, simply because they don't pay extra for XBox Live gold)

The only real flaws I criticized the PS3 for is that there are no USB ports at the back (not that the 360 has them or anything, but IMO it's still a considerable flaw) and an immature firmware when the console launched and even some PS3 exclusives not using the Cell´s SPEs at all in the beginning.

The battery comment was actually aimed at the PSP, I'm fine with my DS3 battery life now that I found the auto-off feature (though my SIXAXIS had terrible battery life).

And the 360 does have USB ports on the back, just one is usually hogged by the wireless adapter.

Oh, OK thanks. The main reason why I dislike the PS3 not having a USB port at the back is for PlayTV, I thought it was too bad there wasn't a more highly specced version of the PS3 available with PVR/DVB capabilities out of the box when the PS3 launched. I would have easily paid a few hundred Euros extra for that.

PS3 vs 360 sales

That's a nice little list there.

Those are all good reasons. I would also include free, good online for your list, that is if you game online like most people these days.

Sure Microsoft's live has more features then Sony's PSN, but at what cost? Well $60/year.

The dedicated servers for most PS3 exclusives are worth far more to me or even the much slammed Playstation Home. It seems 360 fans usually hype cross game chat, actually that's something I would immediately disable. I usually also turn off message notifications on the PS3.

I already have MSN/Voip on my laptop to use if I want to be disturbed while gaming.

Um, you can get 13 months for $40, I have no idea where you're getting $60.

I think it's more expensive in Canada.

I still don't get why people accuse you of hating just your PS3. You hate pretty much everything. I've never noticed you be particularly vocal about PS3, in comparison to other things.

Twesterm just has a hard time with some stuff on his PS3 and some of the content on the games. It's nothing big, I'm the same too, but he doesn't hate the console.

@ zuvuyeay

i'm probably a bit older than most....so trust me gaming has always been expensive.....

Yep, unless you wanted to be stuck to a NES (launched in 1986/87 here in the EU) for gaming (on which most games were just horrible ports). The c64 costed 600 dollars in 1982 (which was very cheap compared to weaker competitors), the low end model Amiga 500 also released for 600 dollars in 1987.

Taking into account inflation 600 dollars in 1982 equals about 1274 dollars by 2007 and 600 dollars in 1987 equals about 1082 dollars by 2007. Note the PS3 launched for only 500 dollars, while costing much more to produce. Compared to past offerings it was and still is an amazing deal.

i agree it is a good deal and i can't really understand the negative about the PS3 as it certainly is value if you like games, movies and a whole heap of other shit.....

i also posted somewhere else that i think sony have missed a trick not having a model that has BC,4usb,250-400gb,the stuff you mentioned and everything else from the original model......still sell it at a profit....as i think there is a niche of people that would buy a high end model.....with all the trimmings...and of course there always still people with money.....i'm not to sure why they don't........anyway commodore 64....that takes me back......BBC,acorn,spectrum,Commodore,amstrad and amiga.......i'd rather have a PS3....
