Forums - Nintendo - BRAWL+: The definitive version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl

That's interesting, thohugh I like how he feels in Brawl a bit better, even if it doesn't fit the metagame as well. Ka-POW

This thread is so fail. So many blatantly false statements made.

Brawl+ still has a lot of work to go. From the videos posted they need to knock down hitstun a bit, some of that was just ridiculous. Melee players don't like Brawl+. M2k and Anther have both stated their dislike for it.

The biggest question though is whose Brawl+ will be the standard?

95% of gamers don't know they are noobs, the 5% who do won't be noobs for long

Thanks for the great insight! I know Brawl+ needs a lot of work, I also agree about what you said with the hitstun. This is why it's a community project. Want something fixed? Go ask them in their IRC channel or in the threads I posted in the OP.

I've heard the BrawlPlusery's Codeset will be the standard one.

Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

@ Smashchu2: Oh yeah, thanks for putting that disclaimer. I didn't think about items and other stuff while I wrote this paragraph! =P

Sorry to sound like a jerk.

Sorry to bore you, but he's why. The game is designed with 4vs and items in mind. In this way, the characters are balanced. In tournament play, a lot of things are turned off and the rules are changed. The reason for Smash Boards to beleive that the game is unbalanced is the tournament sphere changes the rules, allowing a few characters to dominate. In Melee, the best for 4vs were Link, Roy, Samus and Sheik. Fox and Falco were not amazing in that regard. Of those four characters, only two are high up. Only Sheik is in the top area. There will always be some discrepency between the normal and competative ways of playing. The game was designed with items and 4vs taken into account. This is why they "missed" a lot of things.

Yes, you can get good with certain characters, obviously, but you can't deny that if you go out against certain characters, it is practically impossible to win.

Imagine a Ganondorf vs. Zelda match, both characters playing them are very good. Obviously, Zelda will win because of unfair advantages she has with this new engine. I'm not saying my friends and myself are very very good, but let's just say our 1 vs. 1 matches are intense, where Perfect Shields, Shield+Grab and Air Combos shine at their finest. Those duels usually finish with the other playing having 1 stock left. Sadly, the winner is mostly decided by who gets the cheap character, or who uses the easiest Smash! attack to abuse. I've experienced it more than once in Brawl, and I usually lose because of this.

In Smash Bros. on the N64 and Melee on the GCN, even the biggest Smasher can't possibly win without pulling out insane combos first. In Brawl, the stun rate is so low, you can't chain anything, or practically anything. So what do you do? You get defensive with characters, wait for their next move and then grab + start comboing or other moves like that. I hate this defensive vs. offensive distinction that is easily noticeable in Brawl. Ganondorf can't be good offensively now. Wolf is good both ways. This is what I find cheap and unfair.

Feel free to say I just suck and don't want to get used to another engine, but the slow gameplay of Brawl was definitely a turn off for me. Don't forget, everyone is entitled to their opinions.

Like I said, new Smash players will definitely prefer the old Brawl. "Veterans" will prefer Brawl+. By just looking at the people posting here, it's obvious.

i don't think slow is the right word :p

 Twilightman on Gametrailers

To be honest, it would have been more entertaining to see that Marth "pwn" that Ice Climber in less than 3 minutes than watching him failing his combo all the time. o_O

In fairness, if it's just for watching, the average viewer is going to have a lot more fun with four people.

And items.

... without Final Smash balls, Assist Trophies and that damn curry, yes! ;)
