I guess that half of you people haven't played the game (including me) yet you state your opinions.

Im not sure there is several points in the Video when he is playing how he claims you should be playing where he tilts the controller slightly and the dragon seems not to respond, I doubt this is fanboy comments from reviews, maybe they just compared it to WarHawk and realise that it was poor.
BTW from watching how it controlled in the video i really think it looks about as bad as what the reviewer claimed.

While I can't speak for everyone here, I'm commenting on the video that this thread is about.Â
I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.
Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.
Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
On the other hand one could state that the controls are just a part of the realism the game want to bring to gamers. Imagine flying a 8 ton dragon with a 25m span. Thats like flying a 747 with just a row around it's cockpit. It's not like such a dragon with a fire resistant 3inch thick skin would be responsive and you can imagine that it's acceleration in all directions (beside the direction gravity works in) will be fairly limited.
What i remember from the reviews is that the enemies run in perfect square patterns and don't even try to defend themselves. I mean, the Romans were better at slaying dragons then the Highly Flamable Cell Powered PolyBunnies that Lair has to offer.
For the rest, the thread is indeed funny, I guess that if you did spend a 5000$ budget at a PS3, a 1080p TV and accordingly a 7:1 home surround system and god knows what else you need to enjoy a great looking game (popcorn?) . Well if you were able to justify a set-up like that thats costed 5000$ and now in only worth 2500$, then you can certainly justify why all reviewers in the world are wrong and you are right.

Sorry, I misput my thoughts; It's like some Wii reviews where every PS3 or Xbox360 fan bashes the game as unplayable having not played the game. Some people here and in other similar threads (on Lair) do just that.

| Fuzzmosis said: leo-j: I do not own Lair. My friend bought it on Saturday, and I was staying at his house so I got to play it for 5 hours. In fact, he told me today he intends on returning it. The first Battle is absolutely overwhelming. It feels amazing and Epic, but this is partially fueled by you not knowing what on earth is going on. In later enormous battles that seem epic, you tend to notice through the facade. You see your teammates doing nothing but fleeing from a pack of random enemy dragons. The music is ochestral, but began sounding like a Star Wars themed Rip Off than an original fantasy Epic Score. The story being anywhere from low to moderately retarded and non existant AI from attackers or defenders don't help. Unless you feel compelled to play the game till you get gold in every mission, and there are at least 13 missions (I only beat 12), you can rent it and get all the experience you need to know. No need to pay 70 bucks for that. |
Where are you that your friend was able to buy it? Also in the United States you can't return a game for a refund, just another copy of the same game. Unless you have one of those plastic wrapping machines like they have at Best Buy and the stickers from the box, your friend wont get anything but trade credit or another copy of the game.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.
I too was just commenting on the Video, Im one of these people who listens to review's when they have control problems as this is my number 1 worst thing i hate. Which is pretty annoying being a Wii owner as many companys are only just working it out, I would of got Zelda on GC if i had known how bad Wii controls were on that game.
Yeah I guess they should have taken another two or three months to redo the controlls, didn´t look like the comlete disaster some make it out to be... still very poor for a game I otherwise would like. Its just something about riding on a Dragon shooting fireball aroung that makes the magalomaniac in me scream "gimme gimme gimme" if I had a PS3 I´d at least rent it and see for myself... and then propably buy warhawk

| URNotE said: I agree with this quote from N4g when it comes to lair There never was any doubt Lair was going to get trashed by the little fanboys at review sites. This suggestion that somehow 'reviewers were rushed' or other crap is just inane. Lair's controls are: Tilt left and right to steer One button for breath attack, one button for close attacks where you duke it out with the other dragon And if you want to get 'fancy' you can do a snap forward to do a dash for speed and you can do a wrist snap up to do a 180 degree turn That's it! Lair got trash by fanboys as joke sites like EGM or 1Up because: It is a 1080p graphically insane PS3 game Makes it obvious that 25/50 gig games sizes are going to be common with its 4 gigs per level data sizes It is a PS3 game with motion controls Lair has the hate of both the Nintendo and Xbox rabid fanboy communities. Great F-ing game. It's good to see the joke reviews of the game getting shown for the farce they are. |
Hohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohoohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohohooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
God thats hilarious.
You might as well have said: IM NOT A FANBOY......HONEST!! Look, nobody knows what they are talking about, all the games websites and review sites are OBVIOUSLY against PS3, it makes absolutely no sense for a PS3 game that weve been banking alot of hopes on to be considered poor.
Fact: Games sites will have bias review, EVERYBODY has a bias.
Fact: The majority of reviewers dont give a crap about console wars, sure they have a favourite but considering their job consists of playing thousands of games, they are more than qualified to notice and voice the shortcomings of games.
Fact: That post you made, made me laugh more than anything else today.
Opinion: Your a fool if you believe your own words.
