Forums - Sales - And the winner is ==> Metroid Prime 3 !!!

Article is NOT misleading.
This thread is - and its actually wrong.

It simply says that Metroid sold more copies than Bioshock for the same week - i.e. Metroid week#1 > Bioshock week#2.

My guess for Bioshock week#2 is 100k-150k (maybe less if its still sold out in places) - so this doesn't say much at all.

Again - I'll be shocked if MP3 gets close to 400k-500k week#1. MP2 sold 300k in its first MONTH.

I don't know Shams, I went to Walmart today (in an economically depressed rual area, where Wii's can sit on the shelf for a day or two) and they were completly sold out of Metroid 3. I've also heard rumors of it being sold out at some major retailers in larger cities. Metroid could very well sell more 400K first week.

Exactly... all I see is how MP3 sold an ambiguous "more," with no numbers. And leaving out PC sales is like closing one eye to the stats... You're missing the other half of the picture here.

Let's wait for something a little more solid than this before any celebrating/crying.

And let's not forget that you're talking about a new IP with BS (despite it's connections to System Shock), as opposed to a firmly established Metroid series that has a completely untarnished record (no lame 3DO Samus hiding in the closet!). That BS would sell as well as it has is a strong testament to the quality of the title, and I fully expect it to continue to sell via word of mouth and players looking to play something after Halo 3.

Now putting that aside, this is great news for Metroid, which has been the weakest of Nintendo's major series, selling far less than most Zelda and Mario games. If MP3 can exceed the sales of MP1, I think it will bode well for the sales of other series, both 1st and 3rd party.

Yeah, I'm pretty much with the rest. I think it's possible for MP3 to outsell Bioshock first week, but unlikely. I think it's very likely it will outsell it lifetime. Obviously this article is poorly written at best, and it is very mistaken, with no actual evidence.

Well, Wii is definitely more successful, and it's the first real epic game in a while for the system. Plus, Nintendo was insane with MP2, they launched it against Halo 2. It didn't surprise me that it was demolished.

Since MP3 only launched in North America, you can't really say that Wii is more successful as the 360 still maintains a sizable lead (and will likely continue to do so until well into 2008). The one place where the Wii is clearly demolishing the 360 is in Japan, and they don't care as much for Metroid as the West does.

Alexie Di Onie: "O you silly person, mouse and keyboard arent superior by any stretch of the imagination........"

If you are trying to say that the wiimote is superior to mouse/kb then your post is irrevelant in regards to what I was saying. Bioshock is not on the Wii, and many players consider mouse/kb superior to controller; which is why they might opt to get Bioshock on the PC and not the XB360. And before anybody brings up the fact that somebody already got the wiimote to work on the 360, it's not as if it is widely available to players.

If I am incorrect and you were saying that the controller is superior to mouse/kb you are one of a very few that I have seen in most online FPS communities and gaming boards that thinks so.

This is good news for all Wii owners as developers will take notice and -hopefully- get more hardcore games to the Wii.

WOW I don't trust this source I will wait till ioi post the American weekly sales and then I will agree.

Same here. X360 owns US... It would mean one of every ten users bought Metroid... yes, it's definitely game to pick up when we consider current lineup but... more than Bioshock? Nope. I don't see it happens.

I played both games too, and have to say that after playing the Wii for the last year, I have been spoiled by the Wiimote. Using the duel analog sticks is frustrasting. I heard people talking about how long it took Samus to turn around, and noticed, you don't turn around any faster in Bioshock. I think the atmosphere is really good in Bioshock, and the graphics are really nice, but Metroid Prime does a good job in the atmosphere department and the graphics aren't no slouch either. Overall I have to say the Wiimote pushes Corruption over the top in the overall enjoyment of the game. As far as sales goes, I have to say, who cares. The both are selling well at this point.
