Forums - Nintendo - Carnival Games: Only for vanilla faces?

Nice south park reference masschamber.

This game just got racist. Not that it is a good enough game for anyone to care anyway.

For most games, it's not racism, it comes down simply to the fact that black people are really uncommon in Japan, where many games are made.

But anyway, how come nobody complained about Animal Crossing or Pokemon Battle Revolution?

Well, you kind of anwsered it yourself. "it comes down simply to the fact that black people are really uncommon in Japan, where many games are made." Both of those games were designed by Nintendo, and their primary audience is Japan.

That isn't the case with Carnival Games.

Also, while I am not sure about PBR character custimization, Animal Crossing never provides an option to change your skin color, while Carnival Games does; as eatrice said, you have the option of being white and more white.

If the tool for skin color custimazation is built in, why not throw in a few more shades?

Maybe the controversy surrounding this game will increase awareness and spur sales.

Next week Nintendo will make a firmware update that lets users invert the colors in all games...

I personally think that the artist (ie video game designer) does not owe it to anybody to make an all exclusive video game. It is within their right to make a game targeted at a particular group of people. If Spike Lee wants to make a movie about African Americans, he can make that movie, African American cast and all. His market will be greatly decreased because it mainly appeals to African Americans but that's what he wants as an artist. I feel the same applies for this game and any other game/movie/art/toy/book/soda can.

Then again they could have just completely spaced it and rushed it to the market to make a quick buck from who they think their market is...Casual Nilla-faces.

Thats what happens on a slow news day.

This is definaltly something Bill Oh really is going to jump all over.

I wish more games would just use the Miis directly or have a Mii to game conversion tool instead of having to create a new character for each game.

Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.

VGChartz Resident Thread Killer

Oh! I forgot!

There is a black dude in the game with a fro! He's one of the game attendants.
