@BTFeather55, Nintendo doesn't have to ponder what games they should bring to the system. They have ton of IPs that they still haven't released. F-Zero is the main one I am waiting for but the list goes on. I'll let someone else spew the list out or perhaps you can think of some also.

Yeah, but would you put out a hardcore futuristic racer on a system where games like Wii Play, Wii Fit, and Wii Sports are the kind of games that overwhelmingly attract the most amount of sales?  It's true that Mario Kart Wii (largely due to the cute characters) and  Super Smash Brother Brawl ( similarly but much less so, even though a superior game to Mario Kart Wii, its sales have been closer to those of Mario Galaxy ie. high but nothing earth shattering in comparison to the Wii's big 4 -- and when was the last time you saw Galaxy and Brawl getting Top 10 sales in any region?).

When was the last time you saw them out of the top 50 in any region? As far as I know, the only HD game that behaves like Galaxy and Brawl is Halo 3 so every other HD game fails by your standards.

It still doesn't answer the question of when you saw Galaxy and Brawl selling as much as Wii Fit or Wii Play.  You would think the best games on the system well sell as well as a couple of titles that are generally considered to be average at best.  New Super Mario Brothers on DS has sold 18 million copies but Galaxy only has managed 7.9 million?

Since Wii Fit  and Wii Play are so "Average" you should have no problem naming 5 games that are similar to them, are a better value and are higher quality ...

BTFeather doesn't understand the need of product diversification.

Just because one type of game is outselling the rest doesn't mean that you should only create that type of game. It spreads risk out in case you suddenly don't profit from those games in the future.

Yeah, but if you made a lot of platformers with cute characters and they have sold pretty well, then you try to branch out into a new genre with a lot of violence and blood and pulp crime novel devices in it and it sells terribly, then you're more inclined to only make platformers in the aftermath.

Let's not jump to conclusions too quickly. The problem with many Wii games is that they tend to have slow openings but consistent sales for a long while. You should wait a few months before snubbing it. Besides, releasing far too many games of the same type risks saturating the market and will be counterproductive in the long run.

@nordlead: And you could add that it's not uncommon to have two copies of the game in the same household which is something that is very rare for a console game.

Kind of keep getting off track here, so I'll simplify things a bit:  just answer this one question how have any new mature themed ips on Wii sold in comparison to Gears of War I or II, Halo 3 (it belongs in this conversation more than Mario because its story is at least at the PG-13 level) on 360, GTA IV (yeah it would probably sell on Wii too and might be a much needed shot in the arm for mature games on the Wii) on 360 and PS3 or Uncharted and Killzone 2 on PS3?

Heavens to Murgatoids.

Youd think after so many 'Wii sucks' agruements on this site people would understand at least the facts.

Oh, and to millions of people, Mario Kart Wii / Wii Fit are very good games, better than "generic space fps 46".

Putting all games on a continuum of 1 to 100 points as they do at Game Ratings or Metacritic scores for games in the Wii series range from low for Wii Music to average for Wii Sports to alright but nothing spectacular for Wii Play, Mario Kart Wii, and Wii Fit.  I don't believe any of them is higher than an 85. And, I didn't get into gaming to play games like Wii Fit and Wii Play in the first place.  I got into gaming to play the types of games that were the most popular in almost all preceeding generations action and adventure games with good action and good stories, jrpgs, etc.

To answer some earlier questions, I'm not quite old enough to be buying m games so I couldn't get it that day. Also I have told everybody I know about the game, and the story is always "not enough money for that kind of thing right now." The economic crisis might not be affecting the gaming industry as a whole, but in Michigan with the collapse of the automobile industry a large percentage of people are dirt poor or making less than they were three months ago, and are not willing to spend extra money.

I'm not a fanboy, I just don't enjoy dual analog control.  It's d-pad or wii-mote for me.

the conduit has changed the way wii play games.

I know.  I'm sick of the puns too.

A good chunk of Wii owners, myself included, couldnt give a rats ass for Metacritic or other professional gameing reviews.

These people buy games to have fun, isnt that the ultimate goal anymore?

@BTFeather: You don't even own a Wii, so you better stop trolling. How does this affect you anyways?

And tell me, which one of the oh so mature games for the HD consoles has sold more than Brawl or SMG? NONE besides Halo. What's your point? MGS sold less than half of what SMG sold, yet you praise its sales? You are a ridiculous person.

the Wii has some great games, that's obvious, but most Wii owners just don't care. They want Wii fit, Wii sprots resorts and other family freindly stuff with a lot of commercials on TV
